Boykin looks like an insurance policy if DG didn't hit on the CB's that he wanted in the draft. turns out he got 3/4 of the CB's that visited the panthers in the draft so he must have some confidence in them. still this will be the youngest secondary in Panthers history if they don't bring anyone in so it's a strange move to say the least.

Chip traded him because he didn't have the height Chip liked and then he couldn't get on the field in a putrid steeler secondary and now cut before camp in a struggling Panthers secondary

And it doesn't make a lot of sense to me because he's been very productive

and now Falcons pass on signing Boykin too, I still don't get it because the Panthers are really weak in the secondary. clearly something is wrong if the bad defense of the falcons didn't pick him up.

Boykin has a degenerative hip condition, he's got one leg shorter than the other and can barely run. That's why Chip offloaded him, Steelers doctors didn't pick it up, I'm guessing the Carolina doctors didn't either before giving him 80k. This is all according to Carnell Lake.
