Drew Brees to the Saints.
Tony Richardson to the Vikings.
Mike McMahon to the Vikings.
Corey Chavous to the Rams.
Tank Williams to the Vikings.
Fred Beasley to the Dolphins.
Patrick Ramsey traded to the Jets.
Lawyer Milloy to the Falcons.
John Abraham traded to the Falcons.
Michael Bennett traded to the Saints.
Jeff Garcia to the Eagles.

That's the rest I can think of.

I'm stoked with Keyshawn joining the Panthers, he'll be an excellent possession receiver as a compliment to Steve Smith, that's the one thing the Panthers lacked last year. We'll be hard to beat this year.

Falcons acquire DE Abraham in three-team deal
March 22, 2006

FLOWERY BRANCH, Georgia (Ticker) - As expected, the Atlanta Falcons have taken a major step toward improving a defense that ranked 22nd in the league last season.

The Falcons on Wednesday acquired three-time Pro Bowl defensive end John Abraham in a three-team trade with the New York Jets and Denver Broncos.

Abraham, 27, was designated as a franchise player by the Jets, but was given permission to seek a trade. The Falcons and Seattle Seahawks expressed the most interest in Abraham.

"First of all, I want to thank the city of Atlanta and (owner) Arthur Blank for having me here," said Abraham, a native of nearby South Carolina. "Like I said, my main reason was to come here for my family, but after meeting Arthur, there wasn't even an issue in where I was going. I was going to be in Atlanta by all means necessary. I think they did that. We worked through this and got where we needed to be."

The Jets ended up with a first-round pick in the 2006 draft for Abraham. But that selection will be 29th overall.

The Falcons originally owned the 15th overall pick, but swapped first-round picks with the Broncos, who had the 29th selection. In order to move up in the first round, Denver sent the Falcons a third-round selection in 2006 and a fourth-rounder in 2007.

"I also want to thank the teams in Denver and the Jets," Abraham said. "I came from the Jets and we had a bumpy road there, but I have all the respect for those guys there. I felt they did the right thing in the situation that I was in."

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported the deal was done Tuesday.

Abraham automatically receives a one-year tender worth $8.3 million, the average salary of the top five players at his position as a franchise player. But the Falcons will try to sign him to a multi-year deal.

Last season, Abraham led the Jets with 10 1/2 sacks and recorded 67 tackles, six forced fumbles, two passes defensed and one fumble recovery.

A first-round pick of the Jets in 2000, Abraham has compiled 53 1/2 sacks and 328 tackles in 73 games with the Jets. He was named to the Pro Bowl in 2001, 2002 and 2004.

The Falcons likely will start Abraham at right end on a line which features left end Patrick Kerney and Pro Bowl tackle Rod Coleman.

"We now have three Pro Bowlers on our defensive line," Blank said. "I would not be the quarterback who has to face the three of them, or the four of them as the case may be."

On Monday, Atlanta added two safeties, signing Lawyer Milloy to a three-year deal worth $6 million and acquiring Chris Crocker from Cleveland for a fourth-round pick in 2006.

.

can you believe those dopey redskins have made adam archuleta the highest paid safety in the league. deadset that snyder has got more money than brains.

the rams have done ok so far getting rid of deadwood like archuleta, claiborne and damien lewis and to a lesser extent, ryan pickett. their starter pickups so far have been corey chavous (not great but much better than aa), la roi glover (getting on in years but may have some petrol left in the tank) and the major signing of will witherspoon (huge upgrade over the disappointing claiborne). nothing earth shattering but they're heading in the right direction by trying to fix that woeful d constructed by dud hc martz.

the cardinals made a big move by signing the edge away from the colts. if they can upgrade their oline they're going to be a handful with all their offensive weapons. imagine if they can get their hands on vernon davis in the draft (projected to be better than antonio gates), they will be near unstoppable.

the nfc west is gonna turn from nfc worst to nfc best.

I don't know about that. The 49'ers still suck.

The NFC South will be the best division in the NFC. The Saints, Falcons, Bucs and especially Panthers have all made great upgrades in the off season.

Hey Hey enough of the 49ers suck talk!

Just rebuilding is all!

Pick up Vernon Davis in the draft and we might be able to get a first down this year :D

This one shocked me!!

There is not much loyalty in this game is there?? ( from team to player...)

I hope this one comes back to bite the Patriots...

Did you watch Jones play? Camp fodder or back up at best.
and will have no bearing on whether we select VD or not!
