jumped out of bed to play the nrl game....
noticed it was a fine day, so went out side, it started to become over cast..
heard the telephone ring so i ran up my back stairs, there is about 12 of them.
i fell up the dam stairs.
said a few words and went to get up, then i felt a very very sharp pain in my left knee
oh crap i had dislocated my knee.
i thought i know what to do!!!!!
>>> i had got my SNR ST JOHNS FIRST AID certificate in november<<<<
but i tried and i tried to think what you are suposed to do with a dislocated knee.
but all i could think of was you are not suposed to hit it back into place.
humm i tried to think more but the pain was too much, so i thought stuff it they do it to the NRL players.
so i closed my eyes and hit my knee as hard as i could....
well the language that came out of my mouth WOW!!!! LOL
my knee is swallen and a bit sore but i will be fine..

part 2
you know how when you opne a dog food can they always say watch out for the sharp edges??
yeah??? well i said that would never happen to me.
when there is a dog jumping around acting as if it had not been feed for the last week, then something bad is bound to happen.
yes i sliced my finger on the can, blood went everywhere!!!!!!!
>>>>>>back to first aid course<<<<<<<<
i remembered hold your had above your head.... so i did that....grabbed some stuff out of the first aid kit and stopped the blood.

so i sit here typing with a sore knee and a finger that is bandaged up so much that i am having trouble typing!!!
very funny!!!!!!!

What a shocking end to 2003 for you Northey

Take care of yourself and I hope it didn't hinder your New Year plans too much.

Rest up and I wish you a speedy recovery.

Gee that would have hurt with your knee. I've subluxed my knees, shoulders, thumbs etc. But with a subluxation you don't have to put it back in, it slips back in itself. But it still hurts like hell. You are one tough girl Erin!

Yeah I wouldn't go for a run if I were you northey. Just keep iceing it. Then gradually work your way up to running, but take your time doing it. In order to reduce the risk of dislocating it again, you'll need to strengthen up the inside of the front of your thigh. Knees almost always dilocate outwards, so by strengthening this muscle, it will help hold the knee cap in place. When you are able to, there is an exercise where you roll up a towl and put it under the back of your knee. Then you have to concentrate on flexing the thigh. But try to mainly flex the lower inside area of the front of your thigh. This is a good exercise, because it doesn't put pressure on the joint, yet it still helps improve the joint. I good physio will be able to tell you all this anyway. I advice you see one and they will give you some good exercises to stop you dislocating the joint again.

tiredness and boredness (i think the word is boredom) is definitely an excuse to tell pointless stories. when else would you be able to tell pointless stories?

knee injuries suck balls. i've had a dicky knee for almost 3 months now, and its getting worse, some nights it hurts like all buggery. so i've been to the specialist 3 times, had blood tests, tests on the fluid in my knee, and still dont know whats wrong. had an MRI about a fortnight ago, and going back to the specialist in a few days to find out the results from that. i reckon if he tells me he still doesn't know whats wrong, i'll just take a rusty knife and amputate. :) you know like the pirates used to do. pirates are cool...

Take care of yourself northey! Knees are not to be messed around with - I have heard too many stories about people who have done irreparable damage to theirs, so take care of the ones you have!

I've never broken or dislocated anything either, CH. I feel like I'm missing out on something. I can crack my left knee something awful which gets a good laugh at the odd party though.

Dislocated Elbows are the best - Theres a tonne of gristle there - so it doesnt slide right back in. That, or a dislocated shoulder.
