I know Wigan aren't the powerhouse that they once were but that is a great scalp for such a young club. Well done Celtic!

Just a question

When you say Celtic are you saying it with an Ess sound as in Selltic or a Kay sound as in Keltic?

Good to see them win their 2nd game by the way.

Well, both pronunciations are "correct" and justifiable according to philologists... but, considering the word comes from the Greek "Keltoi" I prefer to think the more correct pronunciation is "Keltic".

Presumably, thousands of Boston and Galsgow "Seltic" fans would beg to disagree. No idea what the Crusader fans think.

I reckon the SL team would use "Keltik", due to the alliteration with "Krusaders".

Its Keltic.

The only place where Seltic is used is with the Football team Glasgow Celtic. Originally this was pronounced Keltic but fans in Scotland started calling it Seltic. The name just stuck.

In any other context it should be Keltic. From the greek as explained above.

Yep it's only the Jocks in the UK who say Seltic. I wonder why they say Seltic in Boston.:?

I used to think that was plain American ignorance... then discovered they did the same in Glasgow. Scottish and American ignorance then.

If you're judging anything that you do according to Glasgow standards, then you're just doing it all wrong.

With the obvious exceptions of deep-frying Mars bars, stabbing people and being totally incomprehensible after a few beers, of course!

As Ricky Gervais said about Scotland on his 'Fame' tour: "People told me not to start the tour in Scotland, because the Scots hate the English and that they're all drunks. I told them that's not true - some of them are smackheads too..."

There was a popular English comedy double act who were playing a Glasgow theatre in the '60s. One of them walked on alone and began telling a few jokes that weren't going down too well. When his partner came on stage a lone voice called out "Fecking Hell, there's two of the bastards"

A big well done to the Crusaders Reserves who won their first home game yesterday beating Hull KR, a great 40-22 victory with the entire team made up of young Welsh players.

Just bumping this a little, another good day for the Crusaders beating Salford 25-12. Coming from 12-0 down as well, great stuff.
