"The Manly Sea Eagles have started the new year by signing another front row giant in Cronulla's Nick Patterson.
Patterson is a former North Queensland Cowboy
and joins the new look Sea Eagles forward
depth which will ensure pressure for NRL spots every week in 2004.
Manly are likely to take six props to North Queensland for the NRL trial against the Cowboys on February 20.
In other club news:
* Hooker Chad Randall will undergo a minor operation this week which will keep him out of action for a month.Randall has torn muscle away from the pelvic bone and needs
an operation and rest to overcome the problem.
* Former Parramatta hooker Nathan Hollingsworth has been brought into the NRL training squad to cover for Randall and join Shayne Dunley as the second number nine.
* Outstanding Kiwi youngsters Issac Sopoaga and Chris Heslop will arrive this week to commence their careers with the Sea Eagles.
The teenagers will start in the Jersey Flegg side (under 20) but expected to press hard for Premier League mid way through the season.Former Eagles coach Graham Lowe says both players are future NRL players for certain. The club is seeking accommodation in
northern beaches homes with club supporters for both players.Anyone wishing to help should contact Deanne Lees on 0414947915.
* Season tickets are going through the roof with massive interest from fans since the office re-opened this Monday.Ticket sales are
up more than 35 per cent on the same period last year.
* The new Brookvale Oval scoreboard is on its way from Perth on the back of a giant semi and will be in position and in operation by the end of January. It will be tested in lower grade and Premier League trials at Brookvale in the month of February
(see home page for trial dates).
*The best wishes of the Sea Eagles goes to the family of former centre and Sea Eagles reserve grade coach Neville "Darky" Pierce who passed away on New Years eve after a short illness.Neville Pierce was a local junior who came through the grade ranks to play first grade with the Sea Eagles. He coached the reserve grade side in 1961 with
Ken Arthurson coaching the first grade side.A Freshwater junior he was the father of former Manly lock and second rower Darryl "Dags" Pierce who played with the club in the 70's." - Admin

Disco, here's hoping he has a speedy recovery and is back on deck for the first round....guess we have a pretty decent backup in Dunley if he isn't though!
