Nick Saban has agreed in principal to be the next Dolphins coach. I guess that 'in principal' means their are a couple of small issues to be ironed out.

I'm excited by this signing. The Jimmy Johnson/Dave Wannstedt era is finally over...forever. While Saban has not been an NFL head coach before, he has worked with Belichick in Cleveland. I believe he can bring the team concept that Belichick has brought into the Patriots.

I know he bring to the Phins to the Super Bowl next year, but in 2-3 years I believe we will be back in the running.

As for Jim Bates, I'd love it if he stayed with the Dolphins as the Asst head coach/DC but I think he would make a great head coach and hope he gets his shot.

Exciting times for the Dolphin brigade, Saban will get time to prove himself and I look forward to the draft to see what direction he plans on taking us in 2005/06. Look for a 1st round RB (Cedric Benson, Texas) or QB to be on the cards.

I'm hope Nick takes Cerdric Benson in the draft (if he's still available).

I really think A.J is settling in now and we really do need help at RB, although as I type this I'm thinking Edgerrin James and Alexander in Seattle may be free agents next season so the decision Nick makes will be VERY interesting.

Whatever the case.....GO FINS!

While I'm here, and in addition to my earlier post....

I know its still early days, but what would you do if you were Nick Saban?

Do you draft a good rookie such as Cedric Benson and stick with A.J who seems to be more comfortable these days and getting better, or do you look at an established free agent such as James in Indy or Alexander in Seattle and draft a QB?

Edgerrin might be interested in coming to Miami having gone to college there?

I don't believe we will beat the Ravens next weekend so we should end up with the 4th draft pick.

With that I'd trade back for more draft picks. With my first pick I'd draft the best o-line man still available. With the 2nd I'd draft the best RB still available. Players like Julius Jones of the Cowboys went in the 2nd round. My understanding is that this draft is a deep one for running backs.

I'd draft a QB later in the draft and pick up an experienced QB through FA.
I do agree that Feeley is settling in and I believe could be a good QB with a good O-line and a running game to help out.

The only problem I see with attempting to pick up a good RB through FA is the cost, either on the salary cap or draft picks. So drafting a RB would be my preferred option.

Anyway that's my $2 worth, but it will be exciting times for Miami this NFL offseason.

dolphins would be better with an offensive type coach seen their defence is already pretty good.. but uh well...

If I were the Dolphins, I'd go for Kurt Warner, who is leaving the Giants and has expressed interest in going to either Dallas or Miami. He's in the Marino mould and with his experience, he could get them back to the playoffs.

I'd draft a RB as well if I were Miami and with the fourth overall pick, they should get the cream of the crop.

San Diego are the team who are going to profit most from the draft after trading away Eli Manning to the Giants.

The problem I see with bringing Kurt in is that he will want to be starter. I'd rather Feeley go into next season as the starter. Their is more long term payoff in developing Feeley than going with Kurt.

The reason I would trade down is Miami gave their 2nd round pick to the Eagles for Feeley. It's a long time between 1st and 3rd picks and Miami have many needs.

Yeah, it will be interesting to see how the the Rivers/Brees thing plays out. The Chargers could quite possibly end up with 3 first round picks

Things look like Edgerrin may be coming home to Miami in a trade for Patrick Surtain!!

To me, this trade was meant to be!...The Colts need defensive help (especially at CB) and the Fins are desperate for a running game!

Apparently Edgerrin's keen to head south, with the main problem being if the Colts stuff the whole thing up by making him their franchise player.

If we were to get Edgerrin James, what would you do with the Round 1 draft pick(s)?? I heard Nick Saban wants another LT, but you wouldnt use such a high first round pick on on a left tackle would you? We have receivers, but maybe a guy like Braylon Edwards (Michigan) would be nice to have??
