No Attack

dragons are so flat and attack, we dont have optional play and not even trying decoy runners. it looks like where missing someone like gasnier to spark us up.

And we've never had any attack in the past (apart from the occassional brilliance from Le Gasnier - but even this was few and far between if you ask me). The difference tonight was in the forwards. I've never seen that kind of grinding gameplay from us. Our goal line attack will improve as the season progresses. Many reasons to be cheerful from tonight. Don't forget, Melbourne are a very strong outfit, as well as being our bogey team. They have more reasons to be pissed off tonight than we do. Without Slater, they'd be farked.

the attack will come once boyd and priddis get familiar with hornby and soward. the thing that impressed me the most was the fact that the intencity was there the whole game. the only downside of the night is that stanley is not a first grader. he was shocking tonight.

if we can play like that every week it is gonna be an awesome year

One of their tries was a 100 mtr roll on which came from a flukey in goal regather that we should've shut down. And the other was Inglis steamrolling over Soward, and he is likely to do that to any team...

Summary: Both teams attacking plays were negated by solid defence, and scoring was opportunistic.

Give em a chance ffs it's only rd1. I thought overall they had a reasonably solid game. In time the attack will get better. There are some good signs there.

Yeah, and their tries were off missed tackles. Most tries are off mistakes of some kind....not sure what your point is.

I thought we played great.

Boyd was impressive & will make fullback his own.

I would rather see Morris in the side over Dell. Dell may pull out a bit of magic now & then but overall I think he is going to be a liability. Somehow I can see Morris joining his brother.

Soward has some good moments but is generally one dimensional & offers little. Is Costigan a possibility at 6?

twice when the ball was put in there in goal, it just sat there, someone should of pounded on it from the dragons. instead storm shoot up the field to score. not acceptable

Lets hope you dont apply the same standards to your kids, if you have any. Do you also apply the same standards to yourself while at work, on your first day?

your right about morris, he should be in the backline some where. and also soward he is VERY one dimensional, i just wish gasnier never left

im just trying to say it still looks like the old dragons out there, same kind off errors, same boring attack. and our defense isnt a bonus, it was 4th best in the comp last year

Its back to basics for the whole team bmpower. There were very little offloads, Hornby and Sowie played within themselves, and everything you saw tonight would be instructed by Bennett. Sure we messed up a couple of decoys, but that happens in your first real game together, and it will continue to do so for a few more weeks. Over time Bennett will loosen the reigns on our attack but only if we can remain disciplined.

Thats they key here. Learning how to win a basic, simple game of rugby league. Get on top of your opponent, wait for them to crack and pounce on their mistakes. Its an extremely good start, i know we lost but it was by one point against Melbourne at home.

Ummm no decoy runners? haha.. Pretty sure there were many decoy runners and sometimes to many and they confused themselves!
