I'm sure it has been mentioned but next year the kiwis are touring GB so a kangaroo tour might have been somewhat difficult to accomodate. Hopefully the 2001 (unfortunately shortened ) tour is back on.Lastly time to clean out the dead wood running the ARL and the IRLF,
cheers global13.

I agree Global. Time to clean the place out. It seems that a minority are far too conservative and for some reason are getting their way.
I'm not just talking about the current controversy, there are also other itinery concerns in the NRL as well as domestic selection controversies.
Many of these officials have a say in different sections of the ARL and NRL and are often working at cross purposes.
Rugby League needs officials who are willing to have a go.

Any chance of another tri-series in GB this time next year if the 'Roo tour doesn't go ahead?

I'd hope so, but somehow I think the Kiwis will be left in a very similar situation to the International team in golf. The President's Cup (US v.Internationals) was to be played next year, but after the Ryder Cup was postponed it's also been delayed a year tomake room for the much higher profile event. That's what happens when you're theeasiest todick around in a "big 3" it seems.

Hopefully I'll get to see my favourite league team play at least one match next year.Unfortunately a one-offtest won't let us make the most of the situation we currently have in NZ, with a batch of older headsstartinga "changing of the guard" process with all the tlaented youngsterscomingthrough at a rapid rate. Sending the likes of Tony, Fa'afili, Palea'asina an co. on a tour of GB with guys like Craig Smith, Steven Kearney and Richie Barnettwould'vedonegreat things for the future of the Kiwi jersey, butit looks like we'll be denied thatchance.

I disagree.

What the game needs most of all is a full blown Kangaroo Tour. By Full blown I don't necessarily mean a return to the 32 match monsters of half a century ago. But one like what was proposed. 3 tests, plus club games.

Kangaroo Tours, apart from the wonderful traditions (and what do we have of those left?) does 2 immensly important things. Firstly, it draws 'em out fo the woodwork in the UK, and therefore creates enormous interest. Secondly, it develops a whole group of Australian footballers into master craftsmen of their art. Petre Sterling put it wisely, when he said "You go on tour and do nothing but eatt, drink and sleep football for 9 weeks, with the best there is". Who WOULDN'T want that?

Sure, there is player burnout. But let the players deal with that properly. Not come up with excuses to stay at home because the missus has been nagging you.

The Kangaroo/Kiwi/Lions touring programme of old MUST be resurrected poste haste!
