Greg Inglis to miss Four Nations to undergo shoulder surgery
  • From: AAP

MELBOURNE Storm star Greg Inglis is to undergo shoulder surgery this month which will rule him out of Australia's Four Nations campaign.
Inglis will play his last match for the Storm against Newcastle on Sunday at AAMI Park after signing a lucrative new deal with the Brisbane Broncos.
While the Broncos don't want to jeopardise skipper Darren Lockyer's Four Nations availability by rushing him back from a rib injury, the club confirmed Inglis would go under the knife to ensure he's fit to start the 2011 season.
"Inglis is expected to have the surgery in the next few weeks, meaning he is certain to be fit for the Broncos when the 2011 NRL season commences in mid-March," the Broncos said on their website.

Considering Inglis has been Australia's major weapon over the past two years, especially against England, it is a big blow.

Anyway who will be in now? No Inglis or Folau, Hodges unlikely, Lyon and Jennings perhaps?

Has to be Jennings and Lyon now. Who would have thought we'd have a NSW centre pairing in the Test side after Origin 3?

Along with Morris on one wing three of the four three-quarters will be Blues. And you never know with the other spot, but I'd tip Boyd.

1 Slater
2 Boyd
3 Lyon
4 Jennings
5 Hayne (Morris has NEVER performed in a rep match, surely has to be behind Hayne and Boyd)
6 TODD CARNEY
7 MITCHELL PEARCE

Will Tonga still be injured? If not, I would have him and Lyon. Tate could be a smokey considering he has been there before. I would have Boyd on one wing and probably Gordon or Morris on the other. Hayne didn't do so well on the wing in Origin.

Damn it. We never seem to be able to field a full strength side in Australia any more.

Now im not so confident, NZ might still be able to beat us. Lyon will have the English gushing for some strange reason.

Lol, how English of you. Getting all excited prematurely.

Hayne, Jennings, Lyon, Tate, Tonga, Gasnier, Cooper, Boyd, Lawrence, Tuqiri. Any combination of that will make Atkins, Hall, Smith, Shenton, Briscoe and Fox look like school boys.

Against NZ perhaps. Against England we could pick second string side and not even look close to vulnerable.

what like when you swapped thurston out for hornby and brought jamie lyon in for hodges for the 2006 tri nations game in sydney?

if australia pick the 1-7 that someone has above then i'd fancy both us & NZ to beat you...

Don't worry about a whole second string side. We played without Thurston mid-year and looked completely incapable of scoring.

i've said many a time that slater, inglis, thurston & lockyer are THE ONLY aussies that scare me...and scare most of the england team going off the recent result....lol....take them out will give us a massive boost..

as for the rest

hayne - not a winger..not a concern
jennings - never played against us..we have nowt to fear
lyon - we know his game
tate - lol please..
tonga - very hit or miss
cooper - nowt special
boyd - nowt special either
lawrence - bearly good enough for origin

gasnier - no doubting his talent..but the last time he went up against GB (2006 tri nations) he was up against kirk yeaman who was on debut....and yeaman promptly smashed him in one of the first tackles and sent gasnier back to the sheds for the rest of the game...his fear factor went with him.

i'll give you lote though...class act

what i'm saying is when you take your 3 or 4 gun players out it levels it out massively cos it's always the same 3 or 4 gun players that have dug australia out of the sh*t over the last 4-5 years...

There is not one person in your 1st string backline that would make the 2nd and possibly 3rd string backline for Australia.

You keep getting your hopes up, fact is that since that 2006 Tri Nations match, England/GB have not forced Australia into a corner.

You kept up in the final last year for a while but we hardly needed a miracle play or a miracle player to pull us out of the fire. When the pressure was on, we just blew you away like we usually do.

Cameron Smith, Thurston, Prince, Cronk, Lockyer and Billy Slater, all are capable of tearing your technically backwards defence apart. And Jarryd Hayne might not have done anything at international level in your eyes yet, but Billy Slater did nothing until he destroyed you in Melbourne in 08.

NZ are our threat, but not because we lost our best centre.
