^^^^ what security risk does a child and her mother pose? It is unfathomable that we deny basic human rights to some detainees. There have been hundreds of protracted court cases like this. These are not convicted criminals from Guantanamo Bay FFS. Also remember that under the new laws from yesterday (yet to be passed by the upper house btw) the patient is escorted bt the fed police to hospital and back.

In 2015/16 we agreed to take an additional 12,000 refugees from Syria and Iraq in 16/17. I think that intake was repeated in 17/18.

The numbers since 2013 are merky because the Government does not publicly disclose what happens under "Operation Sovereign Borders". So boats still may have been intercepted and taken to a offshore detention centres, notwithstanding their "we stopped he boats" claim.
