I have mixed feelings on this. Feel we have given him enough chances and if he did do what has been alleged then it will have been his own fault if he gets booted.
But what if the club decides to go for the 'humanitarian' angle and try to help him out further (maybe including a suspension, hefty fine and some everyday work a la Carney). This would, as has been noted in other posts, be helping the individual rather than cutting him adrift and prevent him from simply going to another club on a possibly larger contract and being rewarded further for a series of indiscretions.
As far as I can tell, to do that the club would have to explain why they didn't sack someone on their second 'last' chance who it would appear either has an alcohol problem, is particularly dense, or a combination of both. And the only way to explain away a second 'last' chance would be to admit that the lenient punishment dished out last week was way too weak. In other words the club would have to admit it got something wrong, and in the interests of both the club and the player, will be coming down on him far harder this time, but not tearing up his contract.
Whether or not our club (and indeed particularly Fitzy) are willing to publicly admit that they were wrong remains to be seen.
