Reality is if you went through a game and blew the whistle at every single indiscretion it would be unwatchable. and before you say it, no clubs wouldnt learn, as we saw withe the six agains and the head high farce last year.
For example Teams would be off side at least 30% of PoTB Id suggest. Warriors last round never stood square at marker whole first half and only got pinged for it once. Not that Storm needed any help!

Its a very fine balance between keeping clubs in check and letting the game flow.

The head high farce was unreasonable.

I talking things like holding down, players not getting behind the ref when the balls.

Things that teams do because they are allowed.

We played Newcastle in Round 3. 12 penalties and 0 6 agains.

You telling me both sides had perfect discipline inside the attacking 40?

no chance. The ref wanted to make it a close game

The refs do what the NRL dictates to them to do. NRL wants close games as A) it holds TV audiences and B) its more enjoyable for fans to watch. That's their main priority. Refs are trying to appease that as well as hold some sort of semblance of control and equity on the pitch. Its a hell of a job being an NRL ref!

The Warriors should have the whole season in New Zealand next year considering the sacrifices they have made. It won’t happen of course
They'd go close to winning it if the whole season was over there.

The Warriors are usually good at home.

There're ways of acknowledging the Warriors sacrifice without forcibly negatively impacting the the Australian clubs.

Encouraging the clubs to take their home game against the Warriors to NZ is one thing (and is a good idea IMO), but forcing them to do so is trying to fix a problem by creating a whole bunch of other problems.

What should happen is the NRL should be planning now for a season in a few years where they take as many events to NZ as possible all in the same year/small timeframe, and convince as many clubs as possible to take their games there that season as well. Maybe even consider giving the Warriors a small percentage of the profits of each event as well, though I'm not sure how feasible that is.

That way you'd end up with something similar to the All Stars, a bunch of Tests (maybe consider bringing the ANZAC test back as a one off as well), maybe a Nines comp, maybe the WCC, hopefully the most NRL games to ever be played in NZ in one season, and try to top it off with a SOO (if it's financially feasible), all happening in quick succession with the time in advance to promote it properly and build some hype.

Something similar to that would be a far a greater thank you to the Warriors and NZ fans for their sacrifices than the Warriors having a whole NRL season in NZ could ever be, and you wouldn't have to force the club's to participate if they can't or don't want to.

And whose going to pay for it?
The NRL HQ could offset some funds per club that takes a home game to NZ, as l0ng as it isnt in Auckland, there are lots of towns that could host 12 away warriors games, Christchurch could have 3-4 alone, wellington also, hamilton, Dunedin, etc could take 1-2, they could even hold magic round in Auckland, and make sure warriors are the away side there too, would be good timing also during the women's soccer world cup, where bronx, dolphins and titans might be affected in that period

Clubs expect $300-500k to lose home games. That’s $3.5-6mill the nrl would have to stump up plus travel and accomodation costs unless they could get NZ cities to chip in. There’s only mt smart and christchurch available during the WC.

And that doesn't even account for the fact that most clubs are contractually obliged to play X amount of games at X stadium. Each one would have to seek permission to break those contracts, and most would probably incur penalties for doing so.

I'm not sure that the broadcasters would be too stoked at the idea of the Warriors playing all their games in NZ either. It'd make Sky NZ's production costs skyrocket for that season for example.

If every Australian club took their home games against the Warriors to NZ then the 6pm Friday game wouldn't be such a drain on gate receipts. Clubs could go from drawing 10k fans to 15k if done right.

But they’d lose money on value of memberships, corporate sales and in all likelihood ticket sales, plus as mentioned contract agreements with smc’s. It’s a non starter other than maybe moving the games impacted by the WWC to mt smart and/or Christchurch.

The most money at games is the corporates. You lose them with every game moved

Its only asking one home game from 12 teams, not everyone will need to do it, if anything they'd be a few clubs who'd welcome it, penrith will be at bankwest next year, i don't see them wanting to use that stadium for all their home games, theyll be one in Bathurst, they could take one to NZ, then there's plenty of other clubs that would welcome it, manly and wests have previously taken home games NZ, im sure there's others, and as i said before the QLD teams during the world cup will have to play somewhere

Teams whom are in a position to take a game to NZ on such short notice are the exception to the rule.

Most would cost themselves a fortune in lost revenue and other costs, which simply isn't feasible.

Even then if somewhere else is offering better deals to host a games the club's are going to take those deals over taking those games to NZ most of the time.

It is what it is
