Adam Cuthbertson is expecting some stick.
"Wearing headgear, for starters, isn't always portrayed as the thing a prop should do," Cuthbertson said.
"To wear a pink one is taking things a bit further."
But that's exactly what Cuthbertson plans to do against the Gold Coast at Skilled Stadium on Friday night.
The ball-playing Manly forward and Titans hooker Nathan Friend have agreed to suit up in pink headgear to promote breast cancer awareness.
Cuthbertson said he was moved by the late Jane McGrath's courageous 11-year battle with cancer and wanted to do his bit.
"With what happened to [cricketer] Glenn McGrath's wife recently, it shows it can happen to any family, no matter how much of a superstar you are," he said.
The talented ball-player had no qualms about making a fashion statement in a nationally televised Friday night blockbuster, although he's preparing for a ribbing from his opposition.
"Maybe they'll feel a little bit bad [about sledging] because I'm doing it for a good cause," he said.
"It doesn't bother me at all, it will help me play with more purpose.
"If I have to wear a pink headgear and bust some people up in it, that's what I'll do to raise some awareness.
"I was into it straight away but I had to pass it with the coach first.
"[Des Hasler] was fine with it because it's such a good cause."
The 23-year-old joked that if he got injured against Newcastle in Gosford last night, veteran teammate Steve Menzies would have to don the bright pink headwear in his absence.
"I told him he would have to put it on," he said.
Cuthbertson and Friend will auction the headgear after the match to help raise funds for the fight against breast cancer.
