after getting the season off to a good start he copped a 50 point massacre this week and has to lift his team off the floor and get them ready to face manly in brookie where there's every chance of a similar scoreline

god be with you brad i think you need him this week

If he keeps picking 2nd rowers at dummy half and reserve graders like Paulo,Kelly and has-beens like B Smith he won't be a coach for very long. I still can't believe we went into a game without a recognised dummy half.

Who do you reckon we should have picked?

A proper dummy half for starters, Sandow for all his faults is a much better option than Kelly. Edwards could have gone back in the pack, someone happy to run straight over Paulo and a couple of the broken down hacks i backed yesterday over Ben my time is up Smith. Sio offers as much as Toutai and is at least a decent goal kicking option.

We won't know what kind of coach he is after three games. Not even nine games, if you include the six from 2012.

Yep until he starts picking reserve grade niff nuffs at the demand of people on anonymous Internet forums he will be unproven.

So you thought going into a game with the new rules without a dummy half was the right move???? Sure i am spit balling at replacements but that was a huge mistake, heaven help us if peats gets injured this year.

i think watching how (or if) a team bounces back after a big loss shows you something about the coach not so much tactics but his mentality and how the players react to him

Kelly at 9. Sandow at 7.

Too early for as Hayne would've chucked a hissy fit.

1. Hoppa
2. Semi
3. Tonga
4. Morgan
5. Sio/Hunt (Need GK)
6. Hayne
7. Norman
9. Kelly

and for mine

14. Sandow

Of course this is because Peats and Pritchard were not in contention

yeh, playing everyone out of position is always a good option and will definitely bolster our defence

I agree with the fact that he should have played a recognised dummy half. We had no chance without one, however our none use of a specialist dummy half didnt let in 50 points.

Our defence was woeful; our halves both put presure on centres and wingers from poor reads.

Its a long season, and we should give him a chance to get this team in order.

Going by bas post match comments well definitely have a recognised kicker next outing

We dont need a goal kicker. We need players who can read a play defensively.
I couldnt care less if we had a kicker all year, as long as we dont let that many points in again.

It's a long season, he's 1-1 so far and wouldn't have counted on an early win against the Roosters as reigning champs. With Peats' suspension he probably didn't care too much about the result, but now needs to work on the effort...

Having suffered our first loss (and by a rather large margin), coach now has the chance to try and get some improvement out of these troops so the next/subsequent losses are never that bad. As for changes, he needs Peats back for dummy half/tackling, he needs a proper goal kicker, someone might have to fill in for Lussick, and coach needs to get a bullet up anyone who thinks its ok to reduce the effort when we're getting beat.

I can see Hunt in for Toutai, maybe Kelepi starting, but think he'll stay with the halves as is for another two weeks (and maybe instruct Hayne to get more involved with his long kicking game).

So with Peats suspended and Kaysa only ruled out on the arvo of the game, who was Arthur able to bring in?

Is he allowed to bring in Sandow or the Wenty hooker at such short notice?
Is he allowed to bring in someone who has already played NYC that day?

At this stage it looks like a major coaching error not going in with a recognised hooker but I'd be interested to know if he actually had much choice?
