Why do so many read RLW when BL is the official mag??

I prefer BL in any case.

Good numbers, hopefully we can surpass AFL RECORD in the coming year.

The Record was surpassed last year according to a source posted on here late last year.

I hate most of this survey crap though (Especially RM. Do they want me to seriously believe that RL participation and support has gone down since 2001?). It'd be real nice if these publishers could just distribute the information on thier circulation instead of elaving it to nuffy organisations to do it...

It just proves that Rugby League fans learned to read whilst AFL fans were cutting the sleeves off their shirts so they could see each other arms

RLW is a far better mag, that might help reader numbers

Its the New Idea, womans weekly etc of the League magazine circles.

Ill admit it does have some good features tho but IMO its outweighed by absolute crap.

I just don't get into RLW but buy BL every week.

And they sell BL at games! Surely that increases sales... :?

Just what you wanna be doing, reading a magazine at a Footy Game. Good for bathroom breaks though .

RLW is better for stories about players, BL for stats and reviews. Both are good in their own way, tricked me into buying both every week.

Big League is like the TV week mag, almost to much information, while RLW is closer to a womans weekly with great features.
Have been subscribing to RLW for 18 years now and by the looks of the ratings figures i'm not the only one! :D

RLW is utter crap.

It was once the greatest newsworthy mag on earth, but lost the plot in the mid 90's.

Im sure if the NRL was a trully national sport (not just NSW,QLD & VIC) then the mags would be selling like hotcakes. The NRL would never compete with the AFL's much broader audience...

Mate, look at the figures again --

Our top 2 League mags sold 325,000 copies each week in 2004.

AFL's top 2 mags sold 298,000 copies each week in 2004.

"Never compete?" We're already beating them! :D

Their audience may be broader, but its smaller.

I much prefer BL to RLW but it's good to see we're killing them

There must be a few. I always look for it whenever i go into a news agency, and most of them stock it. Unfortunately quite often there are copies sitting there 3 weeks after it comes out, but its obviously doing well enough to survive. I thought it would probably die after a few issues, but its been going a fair while now.
