Well, here we are! NSW, Qld, it's just mostly rain, rain, rain. How will that affect this weekend's opening round?

Tomorrow night, oh for an upset. The over-confident Panthers v Manly. There's terrible flooding on the Northern Beaches, so I'd imagine Dessie's training week has been disrupted. The Panthers would be looking to win with some more flair this year, no?

Raiders v Sharks and, in their usual Friday night spot, the Broncos v Rabbitohs. Will Brisbane improve? Will salty old Bennett be all that into Souths this year?

Saturday, wow, it feels like a grand final! The Warriors v Dragons. Two even sides, looking for a fringe finals berth at the other end of the season. Before this is Roosters v Knights, with Tedesco v Ponga.

The Tigers could start off great by upsetting Melbourne. Then the natural order will suffice, the Tigers will slump early-mid season. That prediction came from my Tigers workmate. A real pessimist.

Sunday and the Eels would be favoured over Gold Coast? I haven't been following recruitment/trial form.

The opening round closes off with the 'struggling' Cowboys v the 'woeful' Bulldogs. Two sides that must do better, particularly Canterbury, with Gus on deck.

Enjoy.

This cat reminds me of a certain NRL coach.

Hint, Beave will know! Edit: it's Dessie.

The cowboys team looks just terrible on paper. I reckon a wooden spoon could be in order :-/

I'm going to watch Newcastle this weekend solely to see how Leo Thompson goes, Hawkes Bay schoolboy rugby midfielder playing prop.

That’s what I like to hear, we aren’t great in the wet

All the talk about Parramatta this week, I’ve looked at their 1-17 and don’t see it, and won’t be surprised if the Tits push them close

Panthers looked totally dominate!
Sullivan runs out of the line with seconds left in the 1st half for Manly to score!
12-6 halftime.

We're going to quickly get annoyed with all attention the Panthers get this year, I reckon.

Panthers are just quality, surprised so many thought Manly would beat them, Cleary is a big loss, but they are a very high quality team

I thought Edwards outplayed Turbo (who was heavily marked, to be fair)
I thought O'Sullivan outplayed DCE
I thought Yeo outplayed J-Turbo

And that was the game

Fisher Harris very, very good too

Didnt catch full Raiders Sharks game but what I saw a major step down in all skills aspects vs Panthers Manly game, other than the closeness of the game.

Yeo is the sort of player I love, better version of Mannering

JFH is great, best prop in the game?

Jake T looks out of shape tbh
