NRL Rd 24 2022 - General Non-Warriors Thread

The penultimate round, of another season. The only major interest is with Canberra and whether they can reach the eight over Brisbane.

In that context tonight is big, can the Broncos seal the deal against the Eels? They're coming off a monumental hiding and haven't come close to finals for years. Things will be tense up there.

Friday, the Panthers, with or without stars, will swat the Warriors away then it's the match of the round, the flying Storm v the, um, flying too Roosters.

Saturday, three goodies, there's the Raiders, who will get a big boost if Brisbane have lost and Manly might not be up to too much.

The Sharks are getting neutrals excited this year, we need a solid third contender. They should be too strong, too motivated, for the Dogs.

The Rabbitohs v Cowboys is another one to watch. Two sides, with flaws, but which neither Penrith nor Melbourne would relish meeting in the GF.

Sunday, spoonday! First the hapless Tigers play St George followed by the equally worrying Titans against Newcastle. No one will be laughing at any of these sides coming last, hey? They're not Brisbane!

Enjoy.

Couple of big games, Canberra can also get in if they win both and the Roosters and South’s don’t win again

South’s and Roosters play each other next week so a win for both clubs is vital this weekend

Brisbane to finish 9th if Canberra can beat Manly and the Tigers.
The Donkeys don’t deserve to be there after back to back 50 point drubbings

Their comeback season has collapsed. They looked deathly pale on the sideline, Walters, Langer, Reynolds, et al.

It’s heart warming to see Brisbane and Manly collapse like this, if only Melbourne would join them…

I think Brisbane can come back next week and beat the Dragons. Souths have it toughest- Cowboys (albeit, without Dearden) and then the Roosters. They need to win 1 of those.

Beating the dragons might not be enough. They’re 2 points ahead of Canberra with equal +/- but Canberra have a game in hand this weekend. If they win they’ll draw level and be ahead on +/-, and they’ve got the Tigers in the final round. The money is on Canberra for 8th now

Think he was saying that Brisbane more likely to go through ahead of South’s/Roosters

Monster mash! Nelson into Lodge. Heated verbal exchange afterwards!

Dreadful scenes with Radley. He's on the deck convulsing. He put his head in the wrong position in a tackle.

Edit: the Roosters hold on for an 18-14 win.

JWH and NAS somehow once again walk away from their games with a fine but no suspensions. They’ll sleep happily in their kennels again this week

JWH aimed to take Olam's head off, but his target ducked at the last microsecond. NAS tried the same 'tackle' he put on Egan.

These guys don't worry about missing any finals action, as you've pointed out.

I heard it first from you, and I'm rapt. What does this mean for Brisbane? They thought they'd turned the corner.
Who knows. Though to be fair they could still creep in- but they’d need to beat the Dtagons next weekend AND for Souths to lose both their remaining games, or for Canberra to lose to the Tigers. Can’t see the latter happening so they’ll be death riding the bunnies. But I don’t see them getting past the Dragons on current form anyway.
