NRL Rd 6 2022 - General Non-Warriors Thread

Can’t win without Tom according to the experts, that’s 5 from the last 6 without him.
Will take the win, troops were thin on the ground in the 2nd half with head knocks. Haven’t seen the twerp with the whistle before and will be quite happy if I don’t see him again. I’ll happily take Olakauatu for a third of the price

David Fifita, close to the biggest waste of money I’ve seen. Won’t take a dirty run out of his own end, lazy in defence as seen when Foran ran straight through him for a try and he barely got a finger on his collar, but the commentators talk him up big time because he ran one in from 20m out with Aloiai on his inside and pushed off a winger
Watched Kayo mini (which doesn't always reflect how game really goes) but swap goal kickers and result reverses.

Fifita needs a kick in ass.
Seems to be the big kid who never had to work as it was just easy to run over people. Now he playing with other big kids it's much harder for him and he cant be bothered.

I'm glad to hear that, as I thought I may've insulted Beave with the 'there's not much difference between Manly and GC' intro.

DCEs general play kicking looked good as well, but again Kayo shows highlights.
Garrick 4/4, Sexton 1/4

DCE has been unreal the last 4 weeks with his kicking game. Foran is playing like he

Ref rode the Titans big time in the 2nd half , every time they were in trouble he lifted them out with the whistle. 24-18 he missed a blatant penalty which DCE had to challenge to get the penalty to make it 26-18, then DCE again had to point out that a bloke was offside when he awarded a try in the final minute.

take the win considering Croker, Keppie and Koula went off with HIA, Garrick battled hard on 1 leg and Aloiai was hurt in the first minute of the game but kept going

That sounds just like my mate, Sonny. 6ft 3in and 17 stone at 14 but he couldn't even adjust to local club rugby! Not fit either, he was out of puff after ten mins.

And looking back when he terrorised the fourth form, he never really made good metres, he'd bump off about nine tacklers but only advance a metre or two. Like a monstrous crab it was all lateral.

Sonny was hopeless. At least Fifita's in the NRL!

The Dragons are carrying on like Canberra did scoring the extra-time forcing try in the '89 GF. It was a similar try, at a similar time, but still.

Tigers playing great footy today, still time for the Eels but has been a really enjoyable game

Standard effort from the Eels on a big occasion with all their former greats in attendance celebrating 75 years

How about that from the Tigers. Ended up being one of the best matches of the round. Good on them.

Tigers magic!

It's crap slipping out of the eight though, and we'll go further down next week too. Gone are the days when we challenge the Storm on Anzac Day.

Marata Niukore was quite a beast for Parra in the centers. I haven't seen much of him, but from that game against the Tigs, stoked he is on our books for next season.

Quarter of the way through the regular rounds and it’s still a bit hard to read, I’d probably place the teams in these categories
Elite
Panthers Storm

Rung below but can challenge
Eels Sharks Sea Eagles Roosters

Strong chance of the last couple of spots in the 8
Rabbits Warriors

Outside chance but can challenge for the 8 if things go their way

Titans Knights Broncos Dragons

just below that group

Raiders Cowboys

Get ready for next year

Tigers Bulldogs

Personally I'd swap the Broncos with either of the teams in the group below... and probably even put them further down into the bottom group and just eliminate the second to last group altogether (see next comments re those teams).

Probably bump the Raiders, Cowboys & Titans up 1 group each, too. And I'm not sure the Warriors have earned 'strong chance' status yet. We've only played 1 decent team and are 3-3, with plenty of tougher games to come.

yeah Broncos were tough, just think they have the class when fit to be in the fight. Just feel the Warriors are slightly above the other teams in the mix if AFB and Johnson stay fit with Harris to be added but you’re right, they haven’t beaten anyone serious yet and do have some holes in the roster. Raiders spine is where I’ve probably written them off and Titans young halves are a concern as well as Fifitas lack of interest in doing any hard work

Way too early to call the Warriors a chance for the 8.
We have beaten teams ranked 15, 14 and 7 on the current ladder and lost to teams 13, 10 and 5.
If they finish in 10th they will have done well.
