NRL rule idea

I am not into crazy rule changes but what about this.
Tries made on the 5th tackle don't allow you to convert. This would encourage teams to chuck the ball around on the early tackles and takes the predictablility out of the game.

What do you think?

As gus says...NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO...
Who cares when a try is scored...as long as they score them (memo to the sharks)
Why do we persist on wanting to change the game? People want 3 point tries off kicks...or no conversions off kicks! The "kick" tries by Merritt vs the Warriors and Morris vs the Sharks were brilliant yet people would want that to be a 3 point try.
Leave the scoring system alone....its worked for 100 yrs, there is no need to change it now!

If you want to encourage throwing around the ball, then the 2 best ways to go about it are

- Abolish knock-ons. If you drop the ball and pick it up it's play on - like the NFL.
- If you're tackled over the sideline, then you dont' lose possession - it counts as a tackle - like the NFL

I don't think we should abolish knock-ons, but if you're tackled over the sideline you shouldn't lose possession.

But I don't have a problem with the so-called predictability of the game at the moment. Most tries that go through a lot of sets of hands are sh*t-house and are scored by the ineptness of the defending team and not the skill of the attacking team.

You are a nuffy and 3/4.
We are not NFL...we are rugby league.

EXACTLY

That was my entire point. Do you even read? I said IF - then that's how you go about it. I even said they shouldn't, because there isn't a problem with the way it is now.

You are a nuffy and 3/4.

I think that's you as I clearly said IF

Why would you even bring that "possible" rule change up?
IF you had brains you would be dangerous....notice i said IF

Why would you even bring that "possible" rule change up?

Because the discussion was on how to encourage players to throw the ball around more. They throw it around now more than they should, but those 2 points I gave would make team throw it around more. As I said I don't agree with it, but was simply saying how it could be done. Same as when a parent tells their child about safe sex - the parent wouldn't want their child to have sex but give suggestions on how to do so if they do have sex.

IF you had brains you would be dangerous....notice i said IF

People without a brain wouldn't be alive. Might be time to go back to school. But thankyou for proving to the forum your low level of intelligence to think you could be alive without a brain - something you should learn in Grade 1.

I had a mate say the other day that changing the try scores to:

1. If you score a try from outside the oppositions 30 It's 6 points with a kick to come, inside is the usual 4.

Simple but will promote more enterprising play.
