If you want to encourage throwing around the ball, then the 2 best ways to go about it are
- Abolish knock-ons. If you drop the ball and pick it up it's play on - like the NFL.
- If you're tackled over the sideline, then you dont' lose possession - it counts as a tackle - like the NFL
I don't think we should abolish knock-ons, but if you're tackled over the sideline you shouldn't lose possession.
But I don't have a problem with the so-called predictability of the game at the moment. Most tries that go through a lot of sets of hands are sh*t-house and are scored by the ineptness of the defending team and not the skill of the attacking team.
