can anyone confirm what the rules are for the following

1 A player attempts a field goal, which hits the posts and misses and is caught by the fullback on the full without touching the ground, is it play on, or 20m restart.

2. A player is going for goal from a penalty after he strikes the ball is the opposition players allowed to jump and attempt to stop the ball from going between the posts

1) 20m optional restart , provided the fullback has at least a portion of his foot on the try line or beyond it in the ingoal
2) No , a defending player can not interfere with a penalty shot in flight

Of course he can.
If this were the rule then a defending player would not be able to catch a failed penalty shot and run with it.

Yes. But you have to be ten metres back.

one of the rare occasions where the penalty can be reversed as its deemed to be misconduct
the kicker can in fact be sent off under the laws of the game

They are allowed to do that. The rule book just says the player is not allowed to climb up on the goals posts.

Is there a section that says that you can't? I know it says you can't interfere with the kicker, but didn't know you couldn't try and block the ball from going over.

As for why it's never attempted, given the crossbar is 3m high, I wouldn't bet too many players would be able to get their hand more than 6-8 inches above the cross bar, making it an effectively pointless endeavour since more than 99% of shots at goal would cross much higher than that.

you should definitely be able to try to balk the kicker so long as you are back the ten metres.

I remember a game from the Brisbane Rugby League in the 80s where Ross Strudwick climbed on someone's back to try stop a penalty.

Speaking of rules, how well did the ladies in the Qld/NSW game play the ball with their feet

They are allowed to do that. The rule book just says the player is not allowed to climb up on the goals posts.

When a player is taking a kick at goal, defenders are supposed to stand back and are not allowed to rush or interfere with the kicker (as they are permitted to do in Union)

Players of the team opposing the kicker shall retire to their own goal line or ten metres or more from the mark towards their own goal line and shall not make any attempt to interfere with or distract the attention of the kicker. They may advance after the ball has been kicked.

I'm sure there was a blow up several years ago when Luke Covell missed a relatively easy penalty goal on purpose to waste time at the end of a game.
A missed penalty goal results in a drop out whereby a restart is on the half way line.
Is there some rule about missing a goal on purpose?
