If this were true, do you think the non-Australian players would be completely silent about it? It's a lie to make the players look bad, and it's obviously working on people like the below. The ARLC think they are entitled to all of the revenue, but the players are responsible for the salary costs.

I asked the question before

Tonga are playing England in a 3 match series, I doubt the tour makes money let alone enough for the players to come out of the tour with $20k

That is where is where International footy is atm. If there was money there these nations would be paid without the ARLC

Whether there is much revenue or not, why does the ARLC take all of it (including 100% of the tv rights) but not contribute to the player payments?

Tours to England make money

crowds are decent

the rfl keep any profit or loss after paying expenses including players

the issue isn’t top tier tests it’s the others

it’s good the arlc is focused on ensuring all nrl players get 20k per game irrespective of which nation they choose

it’s a scandal the original agreement only covered the kangaroos

I doubt even Tests with Australia make money.

Normally in Stadiums that are around 30k, $50 will get you a decent seat.

So they are getting money from Origin as it is

Really? 40k plus tickets @$40 a go plus sponsorship/corporate sales and tv revenue
should bring in $2mill.
0.5mill costs, 0.5 mill to tonga $1mill to host nation. Be surprised if the numbers aren’t in that region.
20 man squad $400k wages @$20k a player , $100k to tongan rl.
that’s a min imo.
capacity at the three stadiums is 63k.

How is adding an extra 2 games a year equal to working an extra 52 days a year you complete mong.
Charming, you do realise how offensive that term is dont you? Are you Josh McGuire?

because adding extra work time without extra pay and agreement is illegal, be it 1 hour, 1 day or two games. Sheesh.
If you’re contracted for 37.5hours week an employer can’t just add extra time to your working week without your agreement. all pkayers are saying is they shouldn’t have to play more games a season unless it’s agreed on. It’s not rocket science!

The players know the arlc will top up the payment out of its money rather than kangaroos having to share
The problem isn't the money being put in, it's that the players wants a share of the revenue and not the nrl taking all of it instead. Why would the players put there share in and get nothing back?

The quote posted earlier said the NRL was asked how much the test tournament would make the answer was they didn't know.

That is why Test matches are right at this moment. There is no money in it at this point in time, if that changes then I am sure the pay scale will too

What extra TV money is in it?

England or Australia the end of year tests are included in the normal TV rights

How much is to rent the fields?
Training fields?
Security?
Accomodation
Flights
Food?
Paying of the officals

There is a lot of overhead costs for games like this. You are basically feeding and housing 25 players and coaches for a month

Players want a cut of any profits when they aren’t taking the risks of hosting it

successful international rl benefits everyone

if it does make a profit one day the players don’t deserve a cut from it other than match payments

Probably not right now but it has the potential to make money, and when it does the players wants a share and the nrl won't allow that. You can't tell me a 4 nations tournament of Samoa, Tonga, Kiwis and Australia can't make money. Samoa and Tonga alone can sell out games. And when they face the Kiwis and Australia in maybe Auckland those games will sell out.

Agreed. The men are also paying for NRLW currently. Hopefully next CBA they don't need too but atm it needs to be built up

As I said above. Selling out places like AAMI Park, Mt Smart. Townsville etc at $50 a ticket doesn't make enough money.

You have airfares, Food, Hiring training fields, game day expenses etc.

What you can do atm is get regular games on, Strongest possible sides and build it up.

Down the track hopefully the sport can charge premium prices for tickets in grounds like Suncorp, Optus, Accor etc.

What is happening currently isn't working

The rise of Tonga and samoa has changed things imo

those games will sell out in Auckland and there’s a potential for a double header at eden park with Australia vs nz

tonga vs samoa could develop a rivalry
(If it hasn’t already) to rival origin

I know full stadiums alone won't make money. But it promotes the game even more than a half empty game. Samoa's performance at the world cup got a shout out from Dwayne Johnson and that was basically a free promotion for rugby league to the other side of the world and bought in New fans. International games needs to happen consistently and if all the island nations are paid equally the better the product is because all the teams will be top quality sides with the best talent. 3 games series between Samoa vs Tonga has the potential to make money especially if you play it in America with a huge pacific population in America.
In order for the international game to grow and make money they need to play it consistently.

Once the cba is sorted they will announce a regular end of season four nations which they are using to get more money for the tv rights

that’s why the players are asking about potential profits they know what’s going on

Exactly the players ain't stupid and they see the potential the international game has. It's also affected a bit of RU in nz. Alot of the viewers are turning to Rugby league because of the warriors rise and also alot of the pacific island population in Auckland are watching more rugby league because of Tonga and Samoa's rise. I was recently in samoa and I see alot more people watching origin and nrl because of the samoan boys. Before the world cup most of them never heard of Luai or To'o. The all blacks recent game failed to sell out a 20k stadium. In a World Cup year that's shocking. Now is the perfect time to promote RL in nz while the irons hot.
I hope they sort this out quick

Afl gives the a lot more money and doesn’t demand any control of it. I’m pretty sure the nrl players have looked at what’s happening for their counterparts and gone ”screw this“.
I'm pretty sure that they, like most of the world except you don't give a flying f**k what the afl do.
