Fake TPA figures I’d imagine.
Tbh it's not that surprising, who are brisbanes marketable players?

Boyd did himself no favours back in the day
Milf is still young and hasn't been consistent enough to get big tpas.
Thaiday fair enough

Who else would sponsor them, even giving brown paper bags? They don't have a lot of star power atm. All the big name qlders play elsewhere.

That big name Queenslander Jack Bird is apparently propped up by some TPAs

it's one years sample size, expand it and it's likely the broncs have TPAs on tap when they need them. and 600k is massive f**king advantage given the rubbish they're fielding these days. spread that over 4-5 key players that's enough to keep them from leaving.

How far back do you go? Haven' Parra been done twice in the last few years for breaches?

we got done for the ricky stuart era mate, and have since gone through corporate governance reforms to make sure dodgy dave lawn mowing deals can't be done again.

let's be real here we're comparing apples and oranges vs broncos top end of town potential sponsors on tap.

Hang on, you said a one year sample size isn' big enough but discount what happened to Parra only a few years ago.

So what's an acceptable sample size?

i never said don't go that far back or discount the eels. i said we paid our price,...the only price the broncos have paid is andrew gee.

Why do I have trouble in believing that Uncle Nick was unable to orchestrate sizeable TPAs for his team, that really doesn't make any sense looking at the roster and the mates:stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye: In the corporate world

As we have always thought looking at the figure provided by the Pelicans at the NRL, a good accountant will always beat the system. Even the numbers published for the Broncos look massive unders, but then again Toddy generally has no idea.

Out of interest, what evidence would you require to be convinced that the roosters, Brisbane or any other club is cap compliant?

Even if they announced exact salaries including TPAs complete with tax returns and notice of assessments, there would still be people claiming that there are payments made under the table or they are simply lying about the figures.

It is hard to prove you aren't doing something i.e. a 2nd set of books, paying players wives or any other number of ways to get around the cap which makes any transparency in this regard rather redundant.

The stat about the NRL being the most competitive sports comp in the world from a trophy winning perspective is interesting and would suggest that maybe the salaries are not such a big issue in creating an artificial level playing field?

The other thing I always find interesting is who leaks this info from reports. Is it NRLHQ or someone in club land?

The NRL could take control of all payments.
Have access to all bank accounts of all players.

They don’t like it ...then they can go do something else for a living.

What, the year he came in and sacked half the squad via a projector? Would have thought that would ease cap pressure.

correct, we ended up paying out hundreds of thousands on duds like daniel harrison and lee te maari, 13 dud contracts in total. so even though we did get busted on tpa's we COULD have still been under if those contract payouts weren't factored in.

So you’d rather those duds stayed at the club?

Well ignoring the fact that system would be thrown out of court in 2.3 seconds as an invasion of privacy, let's say for argument sakes they took on your idea.

How would you know if they have more bank accounts, onshore or offshore?

How would you know if they are paying someone else on a player's behalf?

How would you know they aren't just giving them cash?

Are you suggesting 24/7 surveillance of all players and officials?

At some point you just have to believe that the clubs are complying. The only legitimate alternative is no salary cap.
