If it actually wants to earn this name I reckon, along with some Sydney teams, it needs:

Woolongong
Newcastle
Gosford
Coffs Harbour
Canberra
Tamworth/Armidale

Qld Cup has:
Cairns
Mackay
Rockhampton
Burleigh
Tweed Heads (hell, it's in NSW!)
Ipswich
Sunny Coast (next year)
& we desperately need Toowoomba back!

NSW Cup already has Newcastle, and doesn't have the other areas because they simply don't have enough money to field a team. Canberra couldn't afford to have a side so they send their players to Brisbane, and St GIlla can't even afford that (although I spoke to someone involved with the Dragons and that looks like changing under Bennett).

Without a direct link to an NRL side you just can't compete in NSW Cup. We had all Wests Tigers players sent to Balmain and copped three straight spoons. This year we get a 50:50 split and we're sitting mid table and looking good to challenge for 5th come season's end. And that's just having a few of our juniors with NRL experience back and 2 games each from Head and O'Hara.

All the country areas would be fantastic to have in the comp (you forgot Bathurst and Wagga at least), but they'd get belted and lose a heap of dough.

The areas outside have thier own comps - why would they want to ruin thier local comps for one team anyway and have local blokes forced to go to sydney every second week

So players can be exposed to a decent quality comp & have an affiliation with an NRL team without leaving their home town?

Good idea in theroy but in reality these country areas wont have the money and the calibre of players to match the Sydney clubs.

Are their any clubs in country areas that continually dominate their competition every year?
I am sure there are a few where it is 2 or 3 big clubs at the top each year.
These are the clubs that should be looking at moving to larger competitions

You forget that prior to the NRL and the ARL, the top competition in Australia was the NSWRL First Grade competition, and it contained no-one from half those regional areas you mentioned!
