NSW Origin

Look at that QLD side. They should of been smashed the fact they lost the series says more about NSW then QLD.

That said. There have been club games Broncos recently where we have struggled as a side but he has produced more then that game.

Smug Panther mentioned Joey. How many times would Joey put in less than 7/10 out of 10 in the NSW jersey. Same to Fittler.

That is what is needed to put him in the elite class. Instead of the very good he is at now.

I am not expecting much this origin. The new rules will likely lead to very limited 13 on 13 footy.

If the Panther guys put in 7/10 performances in all 3 grades then I will be happy. It sets up nicely for a better performance comes finals.

A NSW series win is just icing on the cake
What do names on paper matter? He's not the reason his forward pack was shit. Or the reason Queensland had a huge amount of field position or possession.

Cleary literally did more than anyone on his team in a badly beaten side. He did as much as possible to bring a side outplayed across the park into it.

When has he ever played a club game with 43% ball? The only club game this year i can recall us struggling in was against Broncos where we had 51% of the ball.

Your expectations are pretty ridiculous. Joey lost games. Thurston lost games. You seem to think the form of players around him is irrelevant. No player in history has won every game. How exactly is it reasonable to think he should have done more when he was already doing more than a normal person would expect from a player in his position?

The blues squad was pretty shit aswell. No specialist centres, an out of form hooker and a forward pack that had mostly guys from bottom sides who bitched it in the game. Starting front frower from wooden spoon team puts in a whopping 35m from 7 carries. Tyson Frizzell hasnt played good footy in ages and has a whopping 48 metres as a starting second rower.

Cook added nothing. Walker added nothing. Cleary was the only spine player doing anything after Tedesco got injured. Yet he's the only one copping shit for it.

Cleary
1x try assist
1x lb assist
634m kicked
1x 40/20
1x drop out
98m gained (more than 6 of our forwards)

Walkers stats
56m gained
0 try assists
0 lb assists
126m kicked
0 forced drop outs

Cooks stats
0 try assists
50m gained
0 linebreak assists
0 forced drop outs
0 kicking metres

Just absurd that when his fullback gets injured and the rest of his spine contribute nothing it's the guy who actually contributed something that cops it.

Throw in no help from a spine behind a badly beaten forward pack with 43% ball... You expect him to somehow win the game? When Joey lost games. Thurston lost games. Smith lost games. If it was possible for one man to overcome all those things against you one of those guys would have done it and never lost a game. But they all got flogged in games aswell. He might have been able to better in a few moments. But realistically his effort is as good as it gets in a dominated side. If we had another halfback in the side things could have been even worse.

Just saw the team. Thank god sanity prevailed and Yeo is at lock, Luai at 6. Sims starting I don't get though. Dragons fans were mocking his club form.

Not a bad line up from a Panthers perspective. My main fear is centres again. In attack we know how great they can be..but Mitchell has been exposed before even when he was a fulltime centre and Turbo really only has rep games at centre behind him. But not a shock either. If we can dominate possession those guys in attack will be tough to deal with. Brian will get a pretty blessed run on wing with Turbo inside him. Atleast in attack. He's scoring on debut IMO.

Great reward for our Panthers players.
One thing I have always hated is NSW often don't pick players who are in form.
No excuses this time :grinning:

The practicality doesn't matter. NFL has had to pay millions in damages for head injuries. The nrl doesn't have the money to survive the same. The changes are necessary regardless of fans opinions of game time.

Eight of the 16 teams have the bye this week. If the 18th man cannot play for his club, why wouldn't they source the 18th man from a club that wasn't playing? For that reason I think it'll be Campbell Graham.
