Mini - 8 - Inspirational. Even without the speed and power he used to have he is still a class act at the highest level and didn't put a foot wrong except for the early bombed try.
Hayne - 5 - Didn't see much ball. Must be disappointed that he didn't get to do the hayne plane at least once.
Gasnier - 5 - Good ball for Uate at one point but other then that didn't do much. Threw a Liam Fulton 'intercept me' pass too which luckily was fumbled by QLD.
Hopoate - 7 - Great try. Class player and I wouldn't of believed he would be in origin this year. Freddy did his best, oh well.
Uate - 7 - Made plenty of metres and looked dangerous all night as usual. All but set up a try for Mini too.
Soward - 8 - Was a solid performance after a forgettable first half and sealed the game with the match winner by finally taking the line on which he should do more of in the future.. unless he wants to keep it as a secret tactic.
Pearce - 9 - The best game of his career, set up the first 2 tries with a great kick and pass in a complete 80 minute performance. Dominated Thaiday all game and was great defensively once again. Should silence his critics after that and would have been MOM if Gallen or his two clones didn't play.
Mannah - 7 - Held his own out there and should be in the team for many years to come. Keeps God on our side too which is an added bonus.
Ennis - 5 - Meh.
Gallen - 30 - 10 out of 10 and did the work of 3 players. The conspiracy theorists would surely believe that he was cloned out there.
Scott - 8 - Solid in defence and constantly dishes out punishment to QLD everytime he plays.
Creagh - 6 - Solid enough, decent stats but didn't make much impact. At least he kept his tutu at home this time.
Bird - 6 - Same as creagh except for the tutu part.

Merrin - 5 - Didn't notice much of him out there. Would replace him with TLL.
Gidley - 7 - Lifted the side and helped create the 2nd try. Great impact off the bench like last year. Has found his spot in origin.
Watmough - 7 - Good impact off the bench, plenty of runs and metres. Nearly scored but undid his good work by stuffing up his play the ball on their try line.
Lewis - 8 - Great impact off the bench and started the ball rolling with a try that he made look easy.. Don't know why he didn't play more minutes though.

Honourable mentions:
Ricky Stuart - 8 - Passionate in the box. Lost a point for nearly winding his two colleagues at the end and a point for revealing his sweat marks.
Gus Gould - 9 - Great pre-match motivational speech but loses a point for not believing in hair dye.

Mini - 8 Looked like the player he was back in 2005, stepped it up
Hayne - 6 Made some good kick returns but otherwise didn't see a lot of action
Gasnier - 5 Had another disappointing game I thought
Hopoate - 7 If you're good enough you're old enough, tonight he showed he is good enough, the kid handled the big stage beautifully. Would have scored 8 or 9 if he stayed on longer
Uate - 7 Another strong performance by the Thriller, came close to scoring a few times and handled everything Qld threw at him.
Soward - 9 Very strong game from the little guy. Set up the match winner and his kicking game was very strong
Pearce - 8 Quite possibly a career defining game. Very strong in defence and laid on several tries. I'm very glad we've persisted with him as it looks to be reaping rewards.
Mannah - 7 Stepped it up, much better than he was in game I.
Ennis - 6 Nothing stupid but nothing brilliant, what we've come to expect from Ennis, put some good shots on the kickers.
Gallen - 9 The gamble of Gal at prop turned out to be a winner. Props to Sticky for making the call to move him there.
Scott - 7 Very strong defence.
Creagh - 5 Didn't really do much.
Bird - 6 Not his best origin game.

Merrin - 5 Didn't see much game time
Gidley - 7 Was very good all game, his versatility certainly helped when Hoppa went down, and let Beau Scott stay in the forwards where he was dominating.
Watmough - 7 Some strong runs and tackles but made some stupid mistakes.
Lewis - 9 Came on, made a big run with his first touch and scored a try at the end of his first set which swung the momentum NSW's way, exactly what you want from a bench warmer. The rest of his game was strong too.

I'd say taking out Slater on the kick chase was a fairly stupid play

pearce defence impressed me alot and he was involved alot in the attack. He had a solid game

People that are bagging on about soward not running at the line bla bla bla don't know a thing about the game and are just geniuss. A smart coach with a new team would have both halves looking after certain areas, soward conrolling the kicking and pearce involving himself with the attack. And this is what happened and it paid off.

Soward is more than capable to run at the line (as he showed) and has done it plenty of times for us.

This guy knows what he's talking about.
Honestly I dont understand why people are trying to compare the two. A comparison would only be justified if one was letting the other down. This was definitely not the case tonight. This Pearce fans vs Soward fans thing is really frustrating. And besthalfbackpearce is a douchebag.
Now to keep with the focus of this thread.
Gallen - 50 million out of 10

I was too high up to give ratings to every forward, could hardly bloody tell who they were most of the time. But f**k me they aimed up this time. Egg on the faces of myself and everyone else who questioned Sticky's prop stratedy going into this game - clearly NSW's second rowers are better than the powderpuffs we've been picking in the front row

Pearce, 2 try assists, didn't put a foot wrong, most of his few long kicks found some space.
Soward, average long kicking game however against the best back 3 going around, but excellent short game kept the pressure on QLD and came up with the match winning play.

Minichiello, am considering turning for the guy, what a champ.

Outside backs were good without being spectacular, but it wasn't a wingers game tonight. Did their job.

Gidley was nice and sharp, and despite the fact I don't rate Ennis I do like his big hits.

Top game :D

Pearce and Soward are two completely different types of players...and both look deserving of keeping their spot into the next series, barring some game 3 disaster.

and the high shot on Corey Parker which piggy backed Qld down field

That looked almost borderline intensional. Gidley showed when he came on that you don't have to be a thug to be effective at hooker. I do like Ennis' aggression but there's a fine line between aggression and ill discipline and Ennis has crossed that line a few times.
I also think being a grub definately gets in the way of Ennis' natural game

My personal ratings;

1. Anthony Minicheillo - 8. Had a great game and deserves to be picked for Game III, he ran the ball back with pace and with aggression, he really started our sets well and made several inspirational plays. And who can forget the match-winning try! In the right place at the right time.

2. Jarryd Hayne - 6. Whilst the game-plan was obviously to go down Gaz and Uate's side, Hayne didn't sniff around too much for the ball, but he made quality metres when he did get it coming out of our end. Honestly though, if you watch the game closely, I don't think they ever once gave him the ball in an attacking situation, and when he did go looking for it in the middle, they didn't give it to him either. What's the point of playing him if you won't give him the ball??

3. Mark Gasnier - 6.5. Was solid and didn't do too much wrong, made some good metres and did a lot of tackling.

4. William Hopoate - 8.5 Was outstanding on debut and scored an amazing try. Him and Uate in particular made a lot of metres coming out of our own end, he didn't look fazed by the occasion and made some inspirational runs.

5. Akuila Uate - 9. The guy is a freak and started off every single one of our sets with a blistering run, his running metres for the game was astonishing considering he never really got clean ball into space. What a player and it's scary to think how good he is going to be as he continues to develop at Origin level.

6. Jamie Soward - 7. He did some great work in defence and when he actually did run the ball, it's no surprise that he set up the match-winning try; it was simply magical. Still, his kicking game was shocking for the most part but that will come with time at Origin level.

7. Mitchell Pearce - 9. Was an outstanding and inspirational performance from Pearce, he was great tonight and created two try-assists for the team. He needs to take more control coming out of our own end though, as it was pretty clear from the start that Soward was struggling with the kicking game; Pearce did some great kicks when they gave the ball to him instead. His work in defence though, especially against Thaiday, was fantastic.

8. Tim Mannah - 8. Gallen will get all the wraps and deservedly so, but Mannah made good metres and did a lot of work when he was on the field. With he and Gallen starting, it's no surprise that we actually got an early roll on and we dominated Queensland in the forwards rather than the other way around. Has to keep starting as he is wasted off the bench.

9. Michael Ennis - 7. Did some incredibly stupid things, but his niggle really took it's toll on the Queensland playmakers - almost every single time Lockyer or Thurston made a clearing kick, Ennis would smash them after they kicked it. Was very good in defence.

10. Paul Gallen - 10. Best performance I have ever seen at Origin level. What more needs to be said? Deserves a 30/10.

11. Beau Scott - 8/10. He was very good tonight, did some great work in defence and wasn't afraid to run the ball when he needed to. He looks steady and most importantly solid at Origin level.

12. Ben Creagh - 7.5/10. This was the best game I've seen Creah play at Origin level, he really tried hard and didn't go missing at any stage of the game (except for his injury). Whilst it was nothing special he got the job done.

13. Greg Bird - 7.5/10. Same boat as Creagh, he made some great runs and a few very good tackles too. Slip-up for the Queensland try though.

14. Trent Merrin - 5/10. Didn't see much game-time and didn't do much when he was on. I'd keep him there to keep giving him experience and let him mature into the role, but I see more value in bringing TLL in for him.

15. Kurt Gidley - 8.5/10. Great game by Gids and when he came on our attack looked a lot better. He did some very good defensive work and allowed our forwards to get a roll on with his service. When he moved to centre he still got involved in the middle.

16. Anthony Watmough - 8/10. Was a very good game tonight by Watmough, he did a few stupid things but aside from that he was very good; ran hard and made metres, even though he was playing in a role he's not used to.

17. Luke Lewis - 8.5/10 - What are people going to remember more? That tackle on Cooper Cronk or his try? To me personally, it's the tackle; when you watch the replay, you can see him zooming like a rocket from the other side of the field to absolutely smash Cronk. Inspirational play and had a brilliant game in every sense.

Yeah Creagh impressed me last night, he had plenty of hitups in the first 30mins right up the middle of the ruck, nice to see him put his hand up

1. Minichello - 8 - Was a big critic of his selection, but showed last night why club football differs from origin football. Looked at least 5 years younger, was safe, dangerous and was simply electric

2. Hayne - 6 - I don't like Hayne at all. I will make that clear from the start. But I was happy with his performance. He didn't see much of the ball (which I like because he stifles the attack IMO) and defensively wing is his best position. Had Yow Yeh covered.

3. Gasnier - 5 - Made an error - at least one every game, was pretty solid, but nothing spectacular.

4. Hopoate - 7 - Great skill on the try, but what impressed me most was his willingness to get in the middle and hit it up to give the forwards a rest.

5. Uate - 7 - Not as game breaking as game I, but always looked dangerous - and I can see Thurston shit himself whenever Uate is running towards him.

6. Soward - 6.5 - A slow start, but started to get the feel for the game, and his kicking improved dramatically. Didn't let the team down at all.

7. Pearce - 8 - I have to bite the bullet. I don't like Pearce, and don't think I've seen him perform... Until this game. He showed determination, skill, and creativity. That pass for Hopoate's try was brilliant - I thought it was going to be forward until I saw where it was caught. If he performs like this - he will be the Blues 7 for many years.

8. Mannah - 6.5 - Did a front rower's job. Carted the ball up and didn't let the team down. Not more you could ask from him.

9. Ennis - 6 - He really didn't play that bad, and the pressure he puts on the opposition is fantastic. But he needs to stop giving away the inexcusable penalties and learn to shut his mouth.

10. Gallen - 15 - Was an incredible performance and pretty much stamped himself as Origin captain until retirement. He has improved his discipline in the last 2 years, and he is definitely getting more respect from fans. Definitely suited to prop (see Flanno you dumb shit).

11. Scott - 7 - Didn't notice him too much this game, but he is a great origin player. Come a long way in his career.

12. Creagh - 6.5. - Can honestly say that is the best Origin I have seen him play. Wasn't great, but wasn't his normal pansy self.

13. Bird - 6.5 - Made some good runs and decent defence, but probably should have been involved more.

14. Merrin - 5 - I think he is still a bit timid of the Origin game, but the lack of minutes isn't really helping. 39 minutes out of a total 160 is piss poor for a replacement prop. Perhaps he needs to force Sticky's hand and demand he get on the field. Is missing the bit of mongrel needed.

15.Gidley - 7 - Decent. Again, not a fan of Gidley - but he is a brilliant utility.

16. Watmough - 7.5 - Good aggression, I still get worried about his discipline. He is dumb as dog shit, but he has impact. He would have got higher if he didn't be a mong and drop the ball trying to milk the penalty. We were attacking their line for f**k sake. That sort of stuff can turn games around.

17. Lewis - 9 - He has always performed for Penrith, and he has always performed for NSW. He is a great role model for younger players. Brilliant effort and impact. Along with Gallen - should be stamped for Origin until retirement.
