New South Wales Residents Team:
Fullback: Toshio Laiseni (Cronulla Sharks)
Wing: John Williams (Parramatta Eels)
Centre: Brad Cross (Canberra Raiders)
Centre: Aaron Mercer (Windsor Wolves)
Wing: Sam Perrett (Newtown Jets)
Five Eighth: Michael Witt (Manly Sea Eagles)
Half Back: Josh Lewis (Newtown Jets)
Lock Forward: Glen Buttriss (Canberra Raiders)
Second Row: Zeb Taia (Parramatta Eels)
Second Row: Tevita Metuisela (Balmain Tigers)
Prop Forward: Josh Cordoba (Parramatta Eels)
Hooker: Matt Ballin (Manly Sea Eagles)
Prop Forward: Dane Tilse (Canberra Raiders)

Interchange:
Luke O'Dwyer (Parramatta Eels)
Pat Rosser (Parkes Spacemen)
Danny Wicks (St George Illawarra Dragons)
Chris Bailey (Newcastle Knights)

- How do they select this team?
- Is there a minimum number of games they have to play in PL? (i think Perrett has only played 5).

I think they have all been overlooked because of their place on the table.

Yah I guessed as much... but we're coming home strong. Nice win over the Raiders last week.

Not sure where Karl McNichols comes from but surely he'll get into rep soon

I thought we'd be looking at a bit more representation but I guess a fair chunk of our team either played in the u/19's game or else have played first grade this year. Saffy and Katu can probably count themselves a bit unlucky but Metuisela has certainly earned his place

McNichol will probably make NSW Under-19s next year.

Being selected in NRL doesn't stop them being selected for this team. Williams, Perrett, Lewis, Taia, Cordoba, Tilse, ODwyer, Wicks and Bailey have all played NRL this year.

I think it is a bit of a joke that Sam Perrett and Luke O'Dwyer have been selected. Both of them have only played about 5 games in Premier League. They have been playing NRL most of the year.

I don't like the rule where they select a JBC and Country player each year. They should open those spots up for Premier League players.

I doubt it.... he was born in New Zealand (I read his profile) although SBW played for NSW.
I don't think that matters. Krisnan Inu was selected this year, and he has already represented NZ 'A'.

Yeah that was just pointed out to me on the WT forum lol

Its a bit of a shame, I'd rather see it open to genuine PL players not fringe first graders, theres a few players who have really starred in PL all year that have missed out.

I agree with you about the JBC and Country players

I wouldn't mind them having a rule that would see the team made up from players who have played at least 10 (out of 15) Premier League games this year.

I think based on that a few would drop out. Danny Wicks hasn't played PL for 6 weeks. Perrett and O'Dwyer i already mentioned.

NSW Residents used to pick several Country players but of late they've just picked one token player even though Country (Firsts) used to compete well against the Premier League rep side (City Firsts). They seem to think that Country players aren't good enough to make it, but Chris Bailey was the token Country player last year and this year he's played NRL. This year's NSW Country team includes Craig Field and Jason Kent, Ben Donaldson and Jamie Fitzgerald were also picked but pulled out of the team. Country beat Jim Beam Cup 28-10 on Wednesday and what's more the Country side isn't full of Kiwis and Islanders like the JBC and Premier League sides are.

Trevor Thurling injured his shoulder (I think?) Saturday night and is out for the season. Any idea why Tilse was removed originally? It's not as though he isn't fit, he's been in first grade the last 3 weeks.

I remember reading an article on the CT website saying that he had removed himself from consideration because he wanted to concentrate on his first grade football, which to be honest I think is the right move, as he's been our best forward the last few weeks.
