It's the exact opposite. Pearce was picked on current form and Hayne was picked on reputation. The selectors caused this argument by not having a set standard.

Every player in the side was selected because either Daley or Sterling believes they're the best player in their position or in the best 17 NSW has.

I'd take a guess that petty arguments over a few weeks of form or reputation are left to sooks on internet forums.

The same as they or their counterparts have for the past dozen years. It hasn't helped the cause much.

That was 2011

Wiki says game 1 2010 was Gidley fullback, Hayne on the wing.
Gidley was fullback all 2009 with Hayne on the Wing.
2011 they went with Dugan and then Mini with Hayne on the wing.

The first time they went with Hayne to start the series was 2014...

Hayne was fullback in Game 1 2013

You were right about 2010, I thought for sure Hayne played fullback in that game as he did in game 2 and 3 that year. Turned out he was on the wing and Gidley was fullback

This is probably the best post on the subject. I read in the paper this morning Pearce has been given the lead on video sessions and other aspects of training to form that leadership he needs within the team. I hope it works but if not then, like you said, he should be done.

It's sad to see how bad our halves situation is.
Agreed on the selection part and is something that Pearce has in his favour - he is the Steven Bradbury selection. As for being done if he fails, well the media spin would be 'this is his first series loss where it's 'his' team and he will be better for it next series'. Media are creative. Out of touch but creative.
BTW I hope he leads NSW to victory despite having the same doubts as others.

True, just looked it up.
He played fullback origin 1 - we win it, then he is injured and we lose game 2 and 3 without him. We probably win that series if he is fullback right through.
In 2012 Stuart didn't pick him at all. Haha. Good lord, what was he on.
