NSW 'third tier' Rep team - To be or or not to be ?

For a number of years the Qld Rangers - representative of Qld's administration regions (NQ; CQ and SEQ incl Bne) have been around.

They have regularly played NSW Country in one form or another and also played teams selected from the old Jim Beam Cup and the like.

However from memory there has not been a combined 'NSW' for this level team ?

Would a rep team of this level be of any benefit to players or the NSWRL ?

Does someone playing in the Ron Massey Cup / Sydney Shield / District A Grade comp have any chance at representative honours ?

Currently, no. Stops at NSW & Qld residents (NSW & Qld Cup players)

For 3 or 4 years the combined RMC played against Fiji A at the end of the season. Last year the opponents were combined services and the margins were large.

It was announced last week that QLD Rangers will play a Ron Massey Rep Team this year in Coffs Harbour on the 17-18th July weekend.

Haven't seen it mentioned anywhere.

Have heard the NSW Country games v Qld Maroons (Residents only) in the 16's and 18's have been called off. Not sure why ..or if the Open age game v the QLD Rangers is also off.


Could the team be named something else besides the 'Ron Massey Cup' Rep team ?

Apologies it wasnt announced, I saw an email from NSWRL that stated it, I'd say they wont officially announce it until they decide the coaches etc

In the aftermath of the Qld Rangers win over an (apparently) intentionally under strength RMC team - surely now the NSWRL would look at their third tier representative program.
