There’s an easy solution and that’s to reward clubs who develop juniors with greater cap exemptionsYou have identified one of the big structural problems with the competition. The idea that every club gets the same grant is ridiculous. Regional clubs with large junior competitions /nurseries should have been getting bigger grants for a number of years.
The biggest box for nz2 to click is the financial sustainability, and then somehow convince fox that another low drawing nz club is worth any money to them.

and the grants shouldn’t be equal for all clubs
Regional clubs should get an extra 1 million pa in funding
melb and nz should be 2 mill
I agree financial sustainability is the key.
Guess the argument as far as NZ2 is concerned with TV money is Sky NZ covering the new team and fox paying for the 9th game.
It doesn’t have to be as extreme as the afl but an extra million to two million would go a long way for those clubsThat’s definitely one way. The notion that somebody like the Knights get the same amount of money as the Roosters or the Broncos (who are cashed up) seems a bit counterproductive in my opinion
Probably half in half out. In the early days of the Hurricanes they used to get busloads of fans going down from Hawkes Bay (3 hours away).Wh
What’s the radius of that 1mill? Time and again it shows that once you go past 40-50km fron the stadium chances of fans attending in meaningful numbers are virtually zero.

The argument for regional clubs is their junior catchment, so attracting players should not be their objective. It should be developmentTo make regional clubs as strong as city clubs
to help attract players
make the comp more even
Bigger regions are not looked after by the NRL but by the regional bodyThey usually have bigger regions to look after. They struggle to attract players. Travel costs.
There are fair few reasons

Well in that caseThey
they don’t get all their players from juniors
and attracting players from cities is hard
mad is competing with big city clubs
Regional clubs have their own advantages and disadvantagesWell in that case
We should keep more city clubs
