If they want to inject money into milestones, there are better ways than providing expensive rings to the spouse.

Where do you draw the line ?

If melbourne club did it with their funds as a gesture to the wife, then fine. The NRL should use milestone games for the elite to promote the game. Not spend crazy $$$ on jewelry when the game is supposed to represent the working class.

Piss poor decision that has not been thought out well.

Agree 100%. An odd flex and pointless. That 15K could of gone to grass roots footy or to pay out McGregor's contract

Nrl will not even come close to the afl as a business while peanuts like Beattie and slimey grubs like Greenberg are in charge forget the game itself but as a business they are as clueless as a couple I’ve seen there’s no consistency or rhyme or reason to anything they do or say Beattie is a buffoon who makes simplest of errors ie names and Greenberg continues to make decisions that reek of conflict good luck rugby league

The $15,000 ring was totally inappropriate to a multi-millionaire couple. Cameron is a jerk and
pressures the referees and told Alex McKinnon
that he was faking a career ending injury. Todd
Greenburg is a goose along with Peter Beattie.
I hate Smith with the best of them..

But the McKinnon bit is false.

He tried to convince the refs that the bad impact from the tackle was the result of McKinnon’s actions (which in itself is poor as he was prioritising a penalty over a McKinnon’s welfare).

But he has never said that McKinnon was faking it. Not even Smith is that low.

I dunno, he's close to it. Remember he held a grudge at a man who was made a quadraplegic for doing an interview, for over two years, and did not let it go until McKinnon called Smith to apologise. He's not a classy man.

Make them count that $15,000 on the Salary Cap.

I wholeheartedly agree with that idea , but we are speaking of the Storm so unfortunately the salary cap doesn’t quite come into it .

The ring itself , in short - bluudy disgusting ! More so when that money could had been spent on the games junior teams ( particularly in the country areas where the going has been extremely tough over the last few years with the drought and all ) to purchasing everything that is needed for the young players to continue in the game that they love .

What a kick in the teeth to those poor sods and a slap in the face to all league fans in general .

Again, not McKinnon.

That was channel 9.

That was channel 9.

His public whinging was about how he was done wrong by channel 9. But he still left it to McKinnon to contact him and seek a meeting while Smith was carrying on about how he was wronged, https://www.smh.com.au/sport/nrl/as...still-playing-the-victim-20170916-gyiwgs.html

He's got himself another entry in the most dislikeable character in the game today too - pulling ears, being an annoying clown, then badgering the refs and denying what's on the tape https://www.foxsports.com.au/nrl/nr...s/news-story/734a9022323e89cf7d90d6b26fee5bce
