PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) — Trail Blazers center Greg Oden will have microfracture surgery on his left knee and will not play this season.
Oden has not played since last December because he needed surgery to repair a fractured left patella.

The Blazers say that the microfracture surgery will repair damaged cartilage and is unrelated to the patella injury.

Oden, the top pick in the 2007 NBA draft, missed his rookie season because of microfracture surgery on his right knee.
The 7-footer has played just 82 games over parts of two seasons, averaging 9.4 points and 7.3 rebounds.

Unbelievable - apart from a broken wrist, the guy had no injuries before joining the NBA so he's had an awful run of it. Hopefully he can find the strength to keep trying. I still believe that he can be a dominant player, if he can ever get on the court.

Yeah his stats (per 36 mins) have been awesome for the last two seasons. Such a shame.

He's a free agent this off-season as well. Wonder if anyone will take a flier on him?

Not good times in Portland atm.

Not that we have the cap space, but I'd have no problems with the Hawks offering him a contract.

Can't imagine the Blazers letting him go though.

Feel so bad for Oden, the guy has just had no luck since coming to the NBA, i hope he keeps his head up and the luck can turn around for him.
