Off Season Entertainment part 2 enjoy!

I love to share these classic old games...theyre mainly for the old fellas like me....but its the old days that remind me to STAY positive about our mighty Saints!! this year I think well get some ULTRA attack back with so many good young attacking players to choose from.... I miss the days when wed score tries from OUR half in broken play...but you need good fast ball playing centres to do that and you need FAST wingers! take notes Mcbaldy... when was the last time wed regularly score tries from our half?, yep when B moz was here years ago because since then weve gone with total plodders for wingers and Im over it!

this also reminds me of how renowned we were for having truly GREAT coaches! not like this bald ultra conservative no risk ever oversafe tryhard well hes got the fast young backs now to showcase and turn it all around maybe Mcbaldy YOU should have a good look at this game and a chin scratch about how to TAKE it to the opposition this season for attack from OUR end! fast wingers can win you games all you have to do is have the men who can get the ball to them unlike players like Aitken who just simply do NOT pass...for this match our coach was the great man, Roy Masters one of my all time favourites

What about our hooker Jones and front row. Out played in the scrums or what 1st half anyway.
LOL..The Rank Arena replay.
Dufty should also watch this and see how a great brave fullback in Johnno does it in style.

Also shows why scrums are now uncontested.What a debacle they were.Also was a game for ALL body types.

rugby league was irrevocably changed when they removed the contest for the ball ...
The hooker/half combination - gone
The desire to keep a ball in play that was heading for touch - gone
The contest in the play the ball - gone

Yes it was scrappy but it was better

Good to see teams willing to give up metres to make metres
To have a f**king dig and put it all on the line

League was so much better in the past.

Agree Denis, and it showed Roberts refereing to the rules but using commonsense and not nitpicking with some play the balls that were a bit askew and giving the defenders reasonable time to get offf and get up and mark before the play the ball. The game flowed back then too.

But fast forward that same game to last years semi. The mistakes our halves and others made in the last 10 minutes and extra time were ridiculous and we and the media would be all blowing up deluxe.
Shows what happens when fatigue sets in for blokes playing in that game for 120 minutes. Dragons also played a mid week game final as well before that.
So tell me why cant todays forwards play 80 minutes?

Tigers should have nailed us in that game...but the big diference for me.....the commentators dont go on about someone's errors, in some cases absolute shockers of a mistake at crucial times that could cost a team a game and there were plenty in this one, no different to 2018 Souths Semi. They just continue on calling the game without continual replays of the same thing.
Big problem with todays media.....no wonder some players let it affect them.
