Guys, trying to find out something.

In principal - would you rather support a team with a great history or a great future?

My team the sharks fits niether at the moment, but I would cetainly prefer a team with a great future. Your thoughts please.

I would definately want to support a club with a great future (and I do).

No use resting on our laurels like some clubs' fans have for the past few decades.

Who are you getting at?
Of the clubs with real history,Saints have a future because of the endless supply of talent that comes out of the Illawarra, the Chooks have a future because of the inexhaustible supply of funds provided by their benefactors,Tigers Wests have that amazing nursery out Campbelltown way,(although I see a stand-alone club at Campbelltown within 5-7 years) and Souths of course have no future at all.
The other clubs don,t really have long-term history but in answer to your original question, history is simply yesterday,s news-nice to reflect on but not worth a pinch of you know what in real terms. So I would prefer a club with a great future to one with great history anyday.
I would like to say Parra fitted the bill but at the moment we,re history.

I support a newcomer with a bright future (The Warriors) and while the proud history of one of the older clubs would be great, I wouldn't swap it for what we have. Maybe it would be more revealing to ask a Bears fan; would they be prepared to support a NEW NRL club based out of Gosford etc or would they rather stick with supporting the Bears in first division?

It's a good question.

I supported the Steelers Since 82, with no history (and as it turned out - not future too !!) but I always enjoyed following them cause we had confidence in their future.

Now we've been merged with the Dragons it is good to follow a club that has a good history. Seeing all those great players on the Return to Kogarah day was pretty special.

But as the other Dragons follwers have said, I think we have a great future too.

I think people follow clubs for a variety of different reasons. I followed the Steelers and now the Dragons because they represent the region I grew up in, rather than anything to do with past or future success,
