One Ref

the main problem is no different to blowing a penalty and that’s consistency. For every six again called there would be twenty exactly the same scenarios ignored.

I'm constantly 'that guy' demanding consistency, but the biggest problem over the last forever years is the lack of consistency to get to the point where nobody knows the ****ing rules of the game.

In years gone by, the same scenario, in different games has resulted in completely different interpretations so the fans can point directly at situations when a ruling has gone either way and use that as the basis of their argument. This forum is built on this sort of shit.

I hope that this can change.

Well it hasnt taken long

We are already shifting focus from one ref

To 6 again interpretations

Stopping the video and trying to look at what was the reason is difficult see why

When 30 similar tackles go unpenalised

I think the one ref overall is much better. With the '6 again' they are still getting a feel for it. I would like them to award an outright penalty on the first tackle for ruck infringements, as this is where teams are pushing the boundary the most.

I can see this 6 again rule causing a blow up a bit later in the season, especially if a team is 1 or 2 behind with seconds left on the clock within kicking distance...

Definitely a possibility, though I don't know of too many refs that have the balls to call a penalty that will likely decide the match via penalty goal. Bit like Golden point, the whistle gets put away....

Most of the game I watched I could hear the ref making a call to the players of what the 6 again was for, most of the time he was calling too slow so I think it was taking too long to clear the ruck.

To be honest, I can't tell the difference from most of the other tackles in a game. Then you have a different interpretation for each tackle - dominant tackle allows the defender to hold up/down a little longer than a carry that hits the deck to play the ball straight away. And I'm seeing a lot of defenders with hands on the ball which don't get pinged unless the ref feels like he hasn't waived a set restart in a while.

It's going to be interesting once fans are let back into the stadium with the rub generally going to the home team and how the refereeing interpretation goes.

don't get me wrong, the new rule is great for keeping the game flowing, but there has to be consistency in its application.
