Online servers?

Hey guys I just wanna know how online play works for the consoles. Especially PS3.

For example for the game Resistance Fall of Man...I can play anyone worldwide but for Motorstorm only Europe, Australia and NZ. Why is there a re difference?

Also if I brought Madden and wanted to play online would I be able to play US or just other Aussies? Is this with all EA games?

With EA games they are all worldwide, EA host their own servers and they only host worldwide.

Motorstorm servers aren't very good that's why they are local, notice the huge lag just connecting to Europe without Americans and Asia connecting as well. I don't think it will be a feature of all PS3 games though just the two you mentioned. Motorstorm was actually quite rushed too so they didn't take the time to work the online out properly. Rainbow 6 Vegas and Call of Duty 3 are both worldwide from the start and quite reliable.

With Xbox, Microsoft host all servers for all games themselves except EA games because EA basically told them no online unless we host the servers. So as a whole MS probably have a more stable online system than with each company in charge of their own servers.
