Opposition for the Emerging in your own backyard

If an opportunity somehow came around for a team from an identified "emerging" nation to tour either Oz/NZ or the UK - what opposition would be suitable for say a seven game tour ?

( I'm thinking along the lines of the more resident reliant teams here say Ukraine, Canada, Russia )

Could you work in a game against a National team of some description ?

a 7-match tour?? Russia, Ukraine and Canada would never (in the short-term future at least) have the funds for such a trip... If it's seven matches, then you're looking at at LEAST 3 weeks and at LEAST 25 players...

Some of these nations struggle to fund an away trip to play a single match against their nearest opponent...

back when the RLIF had a website with a message board we managed to convince the south africans to tour england instead of going to italy iirc...we argued they'd learn more playing lancashire,yorkshire & BARLA and being in a RL culture than going on "holiday" with couple of games chucked in....

Whoa there LP ! I am very much aware of the limits of these countries with regards to funding and player abilities, access and availability. My scenario is based on the premise of 'if' it could be done. An exercise in brainstorming perhaps.

Whilst i support and mostly advocate realistic opportunities viewed in International RL - sometimes it is nice to have dreams

and i know dp is trying to be a cheeky twat but yeah oldham is a option,as is every RL town...even hull

take norway RL....a couple of their players play for saddleworth rangers...its no unrealistic to think norway RL could come to oldham and play games against saddleworth,waterhead & oldham,receive coaching sessions from experienced local coaches and take in some super league games for example

Fair enough, I agree! Just wanted to paint a picture for a minute of the harsh reality, as I'm involved with one of the emerging nations, I know just how tough it can be... We're constantly having to put our hands in our own pockets for every little expense as the funding received is minimal to non-existent...
