not sure if this is the right place to post or not but who should do the on-field organising, the captain or the halfback and can someone separate their individual roles for me

hooker and half back back organise the attack, mostly the half back

but the defence is usally organised by the fullback

different teams do it different ways, eg. Saints have a team captain, a forwards 'sub-captain' and a backs 'sub-captain' (as evidenced in the little sideline meeting during the face slapping incident).

in general, halfback organises the forwards, 5/8th organises the backs.

captain's role these days is generally to motivate the players and be the team's representative in discussions with the ref (some do it better than others)

The captain is also mainly responsible for making sure the coaches instructions are carried out. The Halfback merely plays a role in that - organising the attack to suit the gameplan.
