OT: 1980s weekend planned

The NRL is planning a heritage weekend for Round 25, similar to the heritage wek that the AFL conducts.

The 1980s week was originally planned for Round 21 (july30-august1) but has now been switched to round 25 that will take place at the end of August.

Not every club is expected to take part but the NRL officials are hoping that the majority of clubs will make the decision to be involved.

Clubs are expected to revert to jersey designs worn in the 1980s and will use the themes of that decade to promote the game.

Leather balls used at the time will be kicked into the crowd and activities that appeared during that time will also be on offer

Unfortunately prices from that decade will not be in operation.

the round 25 matches are

Bulldogs vs knights @ telstra stadium
Dragons vs Manly @ oki doki what a bloki stadium
parramatta vs penrith @ Parra stadium
Souths vs Brisbane @ Aussie stadium
Sharks vs Storm @ Endeavour Field
Wests Tigers vs Cowboys @ the joint down near Minno
Warriors vs Roosters @ Ericsson

The promotion will be built around the "team of the decade" and will conclude with a gala day hosted by Fox Sports

Readers will be given the opportunity to vote for their team of the decade through the daily telegraph, Fox Sports and NRL website.

Where's Newtown? :? Perhaps Melbourne or someone else could wear Newtown jumpers for the day. And Wests Tigers could wear Balmain jerseys for the first 40 minutes, then Wests jerseys for the second half.
