Incredible timing to get that. Was he trying to snap his son or the whale or is he just that good?

To be honest he takes about 200 surfing pics every day there is waves so it was bound to happen sooner or later.

He wouldn't have been to interested in the whale I'd guess.

The bloke is a freak .
He is an artist , shapes boards , makes surfing movies .
He is in his 50's now and only started suring himself about 12 years ago.
He looks like he is about 35.

Yep.
I have wrote to Tracks to do a story on him ...but they didn't even respond.

I through my mother-in-law have become an aqauintance of an Hawaiian film maker called Jack MCoy.
I gave him a copy of one of the film my mates made and he was flabbergasted.
He does the whole thing on his little vid camera and computer in his shed in the middle of the bush.

That would be down the coast at a place that is very sharkie.

I have never surfed there , it is one of those joints that you need to spend time living there to jag.

This kid is a local from wreck bay.
I have seen him at pipe get deeper than anyone and fly out the end doing that back snapping aerial stuff bogers do.
..and the best bit is ...he is very unfit looking ( or at least was)
