Your assumption of conservative aligned people being the only ones who agree that the population is unsustainable is interesting.

It's patently obvious that population is a huge concern. We are operating well above the ecological constraints of the planet. There are zero systems in which the apex predator is also dominant in numbers.

Well I concede that I have not read opinions of everyone on this topic, however in this country at least the main proponents for a halt in our population growth are these merkins. You can draw your own conclusions as to their motives.

No, most merkins who argue against a stagnation of population growth on the basis that it stifles economic growth and creates an aging population. It's all well and good to say that a stagnation will help infrastructure backlogs and overcrowding (quality of life), but you need to approach it from a wholistic POV. Be very careful what you wish for. The reason why our country has gone 27 years without a recession is guess what ? Population growth.

No, but I am sure that that he would state as a priority meaningful action on climate change and an immediate halt to deforestation. Population growth stagnation on a global scale is a significantly more difficult task than reduction targets in greenhouse emissions.

Actually he has been very vocal on the issue for about 4 or 5 years, linking it (correctly) to those issues you mention as one of the root causes

Sorry, I don’t buy the notes of tangerine and river pebbles with a white chocolate and paspalum finish stuff. It’s not that I don’t believe it, I just think that the scrutiny is unnecessary (in judging perhaps it is) for the common merkin who is looking for cleansing ale after work.

If I am at a pub I am happy to drink a standard beer.
But trying different craft beers can be fun and a pleasant experience.
