The thing that merkins don't understand, is that he had veto power as PM. So why do this ?
Did he? I wasn't aware our system gives the PM any veto over Ministerial (delegated) decisions...

Sounds like he needed tobe appointed as (an extra) Reources Minister to veto that Minister's decision about the gas drilling permit?

Either way, what Scomo (and his office/back room boys) engineered was bat shit crazy, and totally unacceptable in our democratically accountable system of Government. f**ker needs to resign as an MP and just GTFOOH.

The Cabinet Handbook states ‘Members of the Cabinet must publicly support all Government decisions made in the Cabinet, even if they do not agree with them. Cabinet ministers cannot dissociate themselves from, or repudiate the decisions of their Cabinet colleagues unless they resign from the Cabinet’

Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet, Cabinet Handbook, 9th edn, 2016, p. 9. See also Prime Minister, A guide on key elements of ministerial responsibility, Dec. 1998, pp. 2, 4.

Which he could have done anyway?
Well he couldn't... which is why he secretly decided to swear himself in as a duplicate minister responsible for that - as well as secret duplicate Minister for health, treasury, home services, social services etc (all just in case 😉).

Really (allegedly) dodgy.

PMs never talk to ministers? Its all one persons decision?

Im well aware he did weird shit by putting himself in those positions ..... but did he actually make anything happen that he otherwise would have no say in?

All the other ministers claim the seargent schultz defence, they know nothing .... wouldnt they know something had he done something within their space?

I still wanna know if he scored some more $$$s through this

Only if he went to cabinet and boxed it out with the pro fossil fuel faction. It would have been leaked and been a disaster with his grass roots supporters as it would have been seen a win for the greens. Most importantly he was trying to not give the Teals ammunition.
