Actually I he's not an idiot. In the past he has spent $50m on labor seats and big advertising and muck raked all he could. He never expects to win anything, but as a self funded independent, he is not accountable for donations and and can spend spend spend. What's in it for him ? He's a miner. Maybe his miner mates give him some of the $50m - who knows ? But a minority labor government where the greens are delivering supply is NOT what big miners want right now.

Their plan is nuclear to be delivered in the year 20never and they'd like to keep it that way.

Unfortunately that is highly unlikely. The rest of the world will huff and puff for a while but Putin knows they have no balls and will turn their backs on Ukraine once it gets to putting troops on the ground. The Baltic states, Moldova and Georgia are next in line. Xi will really tighten the screws on Taiwan.
