If you read the article it's clear that all parties (NRL, Fox and 9) are only interested in their own businesses and are behaving fairly recklessly in trying to protect themselves.

It's a diabolical mess.

If what is being reported is true, that the NRL(V'landys) is actually going to take or succumb to CH9's request to decentralise the game and give the clubs MORE power, then I give up.

The game will always be a freakin basket case and ultimately will be lucky to remain the second most popular football code in Australia, already down one from the early 90's when it used to be number one.

So let me get this right. The head of NINE reckons that the NRLC has failed in its duty to govern and strengthen the game and its investments, which is true. But then as the solution demands that they relinquish their power to the most self interested group within the game, the CLUBS!

Wow, just WOW!!! And none of those dickwods, including Kent, have anything to say about this? Especially Kent who had very little to say about the clubs getting $13m and actually agreed at the time that the players deserved all that money, but now after the fact started to jump up and down that the game was living beyond its means and should never agreed to it in the first place. Yes Kent, some of us do have a memory. You initially made some grumbling remarks on your 360 show, but then within a few weeks you jumped on board and praised it as being the right move for the clubs and players, which it was, but hello....what about the GAME? Nothing to say about that? No I suppose not, well not until the COVID-19 outbreak, then you are a genius that could always see this coming. WOW!

No, this is the time you should be screaming and never shut up Kent about the CLUBS potentially getting all the power to run themselves, not like some pretend genius after the inevitable collapse of the game that will surely follow.

A strong benevolent dictator is what the game has always needed, not to be run by a committee of club execs. This is going to end very badly. Kind of like when the game was run under Humphreys and the 42 man committee that was made up of former club men and players that nudge, nudge, wink, wink knew what was best for the game. Talk about regression. This will only benefit the TV Networks who know by having a weak and divisive bunch of self interested rabble running the game it will never grow and therefore the price of the TV rights will always be compromised in their favour.

Oh dear...not good.

Methinks you have gone off way too early without knowing the facts.

Well what facts do you know then? I am simply commenting on what is being reported. If it doesn't eventuate then well and good, but bad things always happen in regards to the running of the game. So odds are, without the media attacking this insane idea to give the clubs control of the game, then it will happen.

Well I have always argued that the foundation clubs own the game and not some suit who thinks (and acts) like he knows better. In the past decade NRL HQ have behaved like they are not accountable to any of the clubs, much to the dismay of the fans.

The days of the ex-footy players running the clubs are long gone. Our club (for example) have amassed a highly credentialed board and are more than capable of calling the NRL governance shots moving forward.

The EPL model is ..

Each of the 20 clubs are a Shareholder in the Premier League. Consultation is at the heart of the Premier League and Shareholder meetings are the ultimate decision-making forum for Premier League policy and are held at regular intervals during the course of the season.

The Premier League AGM takes place at the close of each season, at which time the relegated clubs transfer their shares to the clubs promoted into the Premier League from the Football League Championship.

Clubs have the opportunity to propose new rules or amendments at the Shareholder meeting. Each Member Club is entitled to one vote and all rule changes and major commercial contracts require the support of at least a two-thirds vote, or 14 clubs, to be agreed.

The Charter goes on ..

Premier League Chairmen’s Charter

Season 2019/20

Foreword
The Chairmen’s Charter is a statement of our commitment and aim to run Premier League football to the highest possible standards in a professional manner and with the utmost integrity. With that aim we, the Chairmen of the Clubs in membership of the Premier League, are determined:
• To conduct our respective Club’s dealings with the utmost good faith and honesty.
• At all times to maintain a Rule book which is comprehensive, relevant and up-to-date.
• To adopt disciplinary procedures which are professional, fair and objective.
• To submit to penalties which are fair and realistic.
• To secure the monitoring of and compliance with the Rules at all times.

The Charter

The Chairmen’s Charter sets out our commitment to run Premier League football to the highest possible standards and with integrity. We will ensure that our Clubs:
• Behave with the utmost good faith and honesty to each other, do not unjustly criticise or disparage one another and maintain confidences.
• Will comply with the laws of the game and take all reasonable steps to ensure that the Manager, his staff and Players accept and observe the authority and decisions of Match Officials at all times.
• Follow Premier League and FA Rules not only to the letter but also to their spirit, and will ensure that our Clubs and Officials are fully aware of such rules and that we have effective procedures to implement the same.
• Will respect the contractual obligations and responsibilities of each other’s employees and not seek to breach these or to make illegal approaches.
• Will discharge their financial responsibilities and obligations to each other promptly and fully and not seek to avoid them.
• Will seek to resolve differences between each other without recourse to law
