OT: Rule Interpretation

Just wondering if anyone could advise on the rule for stripping/ re-start of tackle count for playing at the ball??

Is a strip attempt that doesn't quite come off considered to be a play at the ball - and if so why isn't the tackle count restarted?

Thanks

If the player that is having the ball stripped still has his hands on the ball then the tackle count doesnt restart, its just a contest for the ball...if it is stripped and hits the ground and the stripped player gets the ball back, then the tackle count does restart......hope that makes sense to you, cause it doesnt to me
