Nathan Cayless in terms of average metres gained: 109.3
Followed by Corey Pearson: 100.0

The rest are way behind this.

Of the likely forwards we are may be after for next year:

Glenn Morrison: 124.1
Paul Gallen: 148.9
Jamie Feeney: 66.5
Chris Beattie: 80.0
Michael Howell: 29.4

Other stats may be important but interesting to note who is going forward ATM.

it also depends on how many games players have played.

For example is Cayless making 109 meters on avg but having played on 6 games better then Hindmarsh making 95 meters but having played 12 games. Who is to say that Cayless would have been able to keep it up had he played all games.

Its an interesting stat.

Another aspects though is minutes per game.

These stats indicate cayless makes more metres than Hindmarsh per match. This would be despite hindy spending longer on the field. So it would appear that Cayless is a much more devastating ball runner than Hindmarsh.....but we all know that aint true. It shows how much all the defence takes out of Nathan and why Morrison would be a ripper of a signing.

And where's Vella in these stats?

Very true but it just shows that he was going well before the injury. Also shows that Pearsons impact this year has been very positive. More interesting though is Gallen and Morrison who are usually in their respective sides and are getting the go forward.

Who is to say he wouldn't have improved also :-k

HOWEVER - it is just an avergae PER GAME....hence guys who play more minutes would likely have larger averages because they get more chances to make ground.

So a guy like Mick Vella who plays far less game time that a guy like Hindy, having just 20 metres per game less is a pretty good accomplishment.

A good forward makes over 100 meters per game - sad to see that we're abit short on in that department!

Don't think that Hindmarsh should have more meters jsut because he's on longer - he takes 15 hitups per contest, which si apretty good work rate!!

It's jsut that most teams play 4 props these days, so guys like Vella play a little over half the game, and their sole responsibility is to cart the ball forward - if they're not doing that then theyr'e not doing their job! So props tend to take a large number of hitups for their time on the field and thus record a high number of meters!

On the other hand, attacking/ running back-rowers tend to float a bit wider of the ruck, and are used as strike weapons - which is what Hindmarsh does. So for him to get ahit up it's usually (2/3rds of the time) an attacking play. Good defence should be looking to shut him down early, so the fact that he has made well over 100 meters a game is a great effort!!
