Our conventional 5/8 should be.....

John Morris.
Put the 6 on his back stop playing funny buggers and let him move us around the park like he did late last year.

We need to bite the bullet and play Morris all game at 5/8. Any mind game naming Morris at 5/8 needs to stop now!! We need a conventional 80 minute number 6 and our best number 6 at the club is Morris!!

That being the case I would suggest either Webster or Witt in 9 or both (one on the bench)

Whilst having Wagon in the number 6 has fooled many of you forumites it would appear none of our opponents have been fooled. This 20% 5/8 80% backrow set up is not working. Lets change it before it is too late!!

Yeah it's not a bad idea. My preference would be to see Witt or Thorman in the 6 but Johhny could certainly do the job. I wouldn't play Witt at hooker though, perhaps Thorman off the bench but Witty ain't no dummy half. Colonel was suggesting we use Morris at 6 and Muspratt at 9 which could also work well.

My only argument is that we'd be weakening one position (hooker) which is very strong to try and strenghten another position which is inexistent (5/8 ) when we could simply bring Witt or Thorman into 5/8 without needing to weaken any other positions.

One thing we all agree on is that we need a dedicated 5/8, half & hooker and no more of this '2 locks' rubbish.

Then you rob us of a good No 9.

Why not play ppl in thier correct positions.

Dykes has played 5/8 all his life.

Well by playing Morris at five eight you are actually doing that. He had never really played hooker aside from when he had to fill in for Buderus at the Knights before he came here. He had always played 5/8 in his junior career. He made his debut on the wing for the Knights.....

Muspratt offers good defense and a good passing game out of dummy half. Morris and Dykes play out of dummy half regularly anyway....

Morris is the best No 9 we've had since Billy Rayner or Steve Edge, IMO.

I would not move him from No 9.

Michael Witt. I know, I know he hasn't been lighting it up in Premier league, Wagon hasn't been lighting it up in first grade either.

Surely some of the combinations that Dykes and Witt developed last year wouldn't take long to put back in place. Witt could grow into the position and if he's not really ready yet, it might accelerate his development in that position by learning from Dykes. What have we got to lose? Some games, we've lost a few of those already so nothing new there.

Move Wagon to no. 12, we've got two weeks for morris to throw him some dummy half passes and get him to hit the line hard. When he's not on the field, give him the Martin Lang highlights video to watch - they've both got the same brilliant passing game.

Moving Morris from hooker really weakens our dummy half position. We have other options for 5'8th, Thorman and Witt, but none for hooker. Keep Morris at hooker and bring one of the other two into the 5'8th role.

ATM Morris is playing limited dummy half role anyway, so to suggest it weakens our hooking role is simply wrong. To be perfectly honest our best "Dummy Half" at the club is with out a doubt Webster. His service out of the ruck is far superior to any other hooker in the game!!! In saying this however I would like to see Witty given an opportunity as I think he gives us another kicking option from dummy half and I think he is a much better goal kicker than Burt. I also think he has good defence.
Colonel I have not been impressed by Muspratt at this stage but I have not given up on him either. He is obviously another Hooking option.

He hasn't done anything spectacular as he normally plays at lock and 5/8 so he is adapting to hooker, but he definitely hasn't done anything wrong. If Smith is not going to play Witty until rnd 11 (where do people get their info) then this is probably a more balanced option then anything else he is offering....
