With all the doom and gloom at the moment I thought I'd lighten things a bit by getting your opinions on our depth for next year. I think it is looking pretty good. I've come up with the following teams:

FIRST GRADE
1- DAVID PEACHEY
2- NATHAN MERRITT
3- NIGEL VAGANA
4- PAUL FRANZE
5- MATTHEW RIECK
6- RUSSELL AITKEN
7- BRETT KIMMORLEY
13- MATT HILDER
12- PHIL BAILEY
11- DANNY NUTLEY
10- CHRIS BEATTIE
9- DEAN BOSNICH
8- JASON STEVENS
Interchange:
14- ANDREW LOMU
15- PAUL GALLEN
16- KEITH GALLOWAY
17- GREG BIRD

PREMIER LEAGUE
1- DAVID SIMMONS
2- DIMITRI PELO
3- JASON KENT
4- ANDREW EMELIO
5- STEPHEN ROSS
6- ANDREW DALLALANA
7- MICHAEL SULLIVAN
13- DANIEL DUMAS
12- SAM ISEMONGER
11- MATT BICKERSTAFF
10- MICHAEL RUSSO
9- PAT GIBSON
8- DALE NEWTON
Interchange:
14- REECE WILLIAMS
15- NATHAN VAGG
16- ROY FRIEND
17- JASON WILLIAMS

I couldn't find places for regular premier league players Adam Davidson, Cameron Ciraldo and Kevin Kingston.
What do others think ?

Its a good sign when you can name guys like Bickers, Isemonger, Russo, Vagg, Newton and Williams in Premier League...

I'd like to see Pat Gibson in first grade. IMO he's the best hooker we've got. Bosnich has good value coming off the bench, as he could cover second row, lock and hooker...but when you have all 80 minute players in the back row (Nutley, Hilder and Bailey) then you're going alright.

Maybe Sullivan on the bench again...I think if he works on his defence and his passing game, he is an extremely valuable impact player in the mold of Craig Wing.

I can't see Aitken getting a first grade spot in all seriousness. I think he needs to play out majority of next year in premmy, playing four or five first grade games over the season. Bird is good enough for now and maybe Sullivan or Dallalana could get a run through the year.

I don't like the way so many people are putting so much faith in Nathan Merrit. His attitude, from most reports i've heard, has been sub-standard at training and off the field. Maybe Kent or Ross could play on the wing in the first half of the season. If something goes wrong somewhere, Bailey can always move to centre with Rieck and Franze on the wings...but Franze IMO is much more damaging at centre. His defence is also a lot better than Bailey's when he's marking up against blokes like Slater and De Vere.

It looks good for 2004, but I also said that at the beginning of the year. It's a pity Youngquest went, because he would of been good next year with a little experience under his belt.

With Jersey Flegg going back to a full-season comp, players like Pelo, Aitken and to a lesser extent, Galloway can play there for a while.

Bring on 2004!

I would start Kent on the wing before Rieck.

I really don't see why we have Bickerstaff. I can't see him playing first grade next year.

Also I would start Newton on the bench before Lomu or Gallen. Newton = Talent.

Rieck on his day can be one of the best wingers in the comp. I think he's a top player and he showed it a couple of time through the year, but he was suffering a bit of a form slump...I think he plays a lot better with Franze inside him aswell.

I agree with you on Bickerstaff. He's just there now to honour his contract...I can't see Cronulla re-signing him after his contract is finished unless he hits form.

I can't believe Lomu was selected for New Zealand! It boggles my mind as to why he was even considered! He's a decent first grade player...but he struggles to achieve that. I rate Vagg, Friend and Newton all above Lomu.

I'd like to see how Jason Williams fares. I heard he was the strongest or one of the strongest Bulldogs, and also that they were disappointed to let him go.

Are you drunk?

I assure you hulk, I am not drunk. He didn't have a very good season this year for the most part, but towards the end he was playing OK.

Last year, he playing great, scoring tries all over the park and really adding something to our line-up. I can't see how so many people don't have faith in Rieck...he's a top player and when in-form is ONE OF the best wingers in the comp...I'm not saying the best, but easily in the top 10.

interesting observation re: Reick , who was inside him all year and who was the top try scorer for the club?
When was the last time Peach only scored 5 try's in one year?
Maybe there in lies the answer.

Bickerstaff has potential - Dragons semi 2002.
What has he done this year? Look at the younger blokes we have coming up and into grade. I really don't see him playing a big role for us.

On Rieck..Argh!!!! I have never rated him and never will, he can't catch or tackle. I'd love to be proven wrong but I doubt I will :?

I think you couldn't find places because you have a lot of Jersey Flegg players selected.

Remember in 2004 Flegg reverts to a full season and goes up a year to U/20s

Blokes like Galloway and Aitken are far more likely to play in Flegg than first grade. It's one thing that they were blooded this year through necessity but that doesn't make them ready yet to be regulars in first grade.

The last thing we want to do is burn them out by apllying the blowtorch too soon. :)
