The future looks very bleak. Relying on juniors with potential is not the way to go because it can go either way. The juniors look great and hopefully they succeed but the problem is, if Saints don't make finals, they will just leave for a club that will or looks like they will. Saints don't look like they will. The close losses to the big sides mean nothing when you can't beat the bottom 8 sides which they fail to do.
They need a good mix of youth and experience, and the Saints cannot attract any player but unwanted players at clubs that are not chased by anyone but Saints. Who was chasing Gutho and Cook? They are great players and have had a decent season, but they landed in Saints lap. Is is not as if there was a challenge from another club for their services.
I was excited about Flanno but after his nepotism ways this year my thoughts of him being our saviour are gone. He should take note of Brad Arthur at Parra. He was going well until he started playing his son more than he should have and it cost him his job. The Cleary connection is a special one where the coach has proven to be a future immortal same with his son. The Flanno's are no way near that.
