Any thoughts on who may be our next fullback.....IMO Nightingale is week in week out the best winger in the game, but he doesnt seem to have the pace as say Slater or Boyd when running the ball back.....do you think Chase Stanley would fit that role or who else is on the horizon.:sarcasm:

Chase Stanley...no. I presume you mean Kyle and I think he could definitely handle it, particularly with a full off season and a little more bulk. I think he'll get the gig ahead of night, goodwin and whoever we sign and move into the halves when Hornby retires. Chase is more of a centre / back row prospect.

We all know that Stanley has an abundance of skill and footballing ability but does anybody know if Stanley has speed and I mean genuine speed the likes of the really good fullbacks like Slater, Boyd, and Dugan. If the answer is yes then I think he will comfortably fit in because I think speed is a key requirement of all great fullbacks, we know he has ball playing skills already.

from what i saw on the weekend, nightingale just didn't seem to have the passing capabilities that boyd et al. do...

that's what we need in our next fullback - a third attacking lynchpin.

Style hands down... Morris and Nighty are 2 of the best wingers in the game so that should rule them out... with a ball playing fullback like Stanley we would keep that potent back three up to scratch.

And Minh i think he goes alright in the speed department, no Slater, B.Stewart speed but fast enough.

he's got all the skills to be a Karmichael Hunt style fullback and even better... i still think its more just a transition position for him before Hornby retires so he can move into the halves but that primarily the natural evolution of fullbacks in todays game...

Yeah Flo just doesn't seem to have the passing game required for our backline moves, he is good enough under the high ball and positionally but we need Stanleys ball playing ability.

Man im gonna miss Boyd :(

I think Stanley is our best option for Fullback next year. Considering how many fullbacks move into the halves after a few years, it will be a great transition for him later on when Hornby retires.

At the moment I'm favouring Stanley, he has looked good when asked to play there this year... It will be interesting though to see Moltzen after a solid pre-season, free from injury. Either way we have got some good depth for next year in the backs and halves/hooker.

Has Moltzen ever played in the centres?

Yes quite a few games for us...some of his first games there..a few this year, but mainly as a utility fill in..not his prefferred position. . most of us wests supporters feel he is a decent footballer, but in the halves is where he is more suited...obviously our master coach has designs on Lui/Miller being halfback and 5/8 is taken by Marshall, and we are not overly concerned at losing him, as you dont want him as a specialist centre or a fullback for that matter. he doesn't like running into defence (bit of a cat actually has always been since a bad injury years ago which put a plate in his head so understandable), not much interested in tackling or kicking or passing. definitely no good at fullback doesn't attack the high ball or run back againts a line with conviction and will surrender and usually out of position defensively, but good swerve and sleight of hand likes open space although seems to have lost some pace. anyway good luck but hope you didn't spend too much you must have promised him a specialit starting role to entice him. you guys will probably turn him into a star.
