Owen Glenn's shopping list

I was thinking who Owen Glenn could buy for the club if he felt like dipping into the billions or whatever he's got.
How about Israel Folau and Rene Ranger?

Neglecting the obvious salary cap issue...I would go for Jamie Soward, Matt Cooper, and Possibly Tariq Sims

Folau? Nah, too expensive and too lazy. Ranger for sure. But in general I agree with Bluey, we already have the cattle, the focus should be on retention.

Apparently we were operating a million below the cap last year. And this is presumably before we slashed our roster of numerous players and only signed Friend.

Between Thomas Leuluai, Locke and Tuimavavae I am comfortable we can cover the 6 position. We have a freak at 7 so all we really need at 6 is someone who can do the basics well.

I'd go for:
-a hardass prop like JWH. Actually JWH is what I'd like.
-a skilled workaholic outside back, like Matt Cooper or Jason Nightingale.
-some club's best second rower.

JWH is off contract as well. If McClennan isn't going to play Inu then should look at signing a centre for next season, Ropati will surely leave now at the end of this season. Or start converting the fish now.

I'd take Frank Pritchard, or Dave Taylor or Sam Burgess from Souths. And as always a top-class centre, as I'm not convinced of the long-term viability of any of our options apart from Hurrell.

1 mill under the cap? Had no Idea we were running far under.

Nightingale on our wing please.

Been a big fan of Vatuvei's and supported him through thick and thin. But his performance on Sunday has finally put him on thin ice in my book. To be the champion team we are on track to being, we can't have key players delivering that kind of crap. He wasn't coming back from injury, had some good trial warmups, and its a massive first game of the season and he delivers that crap. Maybe its time the warriors look to move beyond Manu? He's not worth the massive bucks we (I presume) pay him. Especially now that it looks like we have a powerhouse centre to do the beast type damage.

Ranger's too flakey.
Folau isnt a team man

we dont actually need to buy anyone, maybe Benji.

I agree...if we are operating that far under the cap, that's good news. We have some young ones whose value will go up considerably. IMO the first thing is to ensure we retain them to build a team around. Johnson is the first obvious one there, his value will skyrocket if he stays on the path he is and remains injury free.

I honestly don't know if there are any players I'd like to bring over. We've seen the likes of Matulino, Johnson, Locke and Hurrell come out of the U20s. Got guys like Slaimankhel, Palavi and Taukiaho coming up now. Do we go and blow a load of our cap on someone we could find in the 20s? I'd say no. Upgrade all of our stars and KEEP them here.

Only position I'd be ok if we shopped around for was a world class centre, and that's only if Bluey really hates Inu.

If we are to recruit anybody, Obviously we would all want this player to be the premier player in their position, in a area we are deficient and a player that is a leader & willing to teach the younger boys coming through the ropes.

Who this is I don't know. Credit to the club as this is the first time ever being a supporter where I've felt we don't really need to look else where.

I'd take Keiran Foran or Benji without a moment's hesitation. Doubt either will leave their clubs in a hurry though.

SBW in a heartbeat...

the guy pays for himself with all the press he brings...

you may not like the guy... but he's a hell of a footballer who would send the memberships flying...

and he's a product of Auckland RL.
